Positive Comments: To me this sounds like an idea you were trying to work out, not an actual song so I’m going to give feedback on this as a work in progress. Forgive me if I’m wrong. That’s just how I’m hearing it. I hear a really cool melodic idea here that’s very catchy. There’s a lot of cool soloing and harmonies in here as well.

Constructive Comments: Ok here’s what I’m hearing. I think there’s a little too much chorus on the guitars. They sound a little out of tune which can happen when too much of that effect is used. I think the playing can be a little tighter. The drums are way too low in the mix. Bring them up and work them out. Add fills and maybe cut the time in half somewhere. There’s a really good idea here and there’s so many different directions this idea can go. Keep working on it and you’ll have a great song on your hands. Best of luck!

Positive Comments: This composition is TIGHT!!! Musically has a Boy George feel to me, although the the vocals have a more Bruce Springsteen sound. I wish I could see the lyrics, having a difficult understanding all the great lyrics I’m sure!! This composition has an infectious sound and beat..great TUNE!! Wish we’d written this song!! Hat’s off Sir!!!

Positive Comments: Strong lyrical content. A very strong, characterful vocal performance which sells the song with passion. The song works well with just voice and acoustic guitar. Nice chord progression. I like the change of vocal direction at 3.22. Strong song structure.

Constructive Comments: I think the guitar is a tad too low in the mix. A reflective song such as this needs to be slow, however I might have upped the BPM to reflect the desperation of the narrator and the fact that time is running out.

Positive Comments: I like the funky intro. The heavy drums, piano and the bass with the organ weaving in and out works really well. I particularly like the drum shuffle. The instrumental pull back at 2.38 is very effective. Strong vocal deliver. The song has great swagger, almost like some of Steely Dan’s stuff.

Constructive Comments: I would have liked more melodic movement. I feel the melody follows the same pattern for too long. It sounds like a series of verses which build tension without the release of a chorus or a bridge which would take the song in another direction, before taking it back to the main theme. I think the vocal could be higher in the mix. I like the overall sound of the song but I think its structure could be better.

Positive Comments: This piece has a lovely and moving feel. I can hear New Testament references. The spoken content regarding “A War That Lasts A Hundred Years” offers a distinct warning. I love the utilization of the instruments specifically the dulcimer which comes to the fore near the close of the piece.

Constructive Comments: This is a beautiful composition with strong melodic content. The singer reminds me of Maggie Reilly. The vocalist on this recording has a strong voice. My only suggestion would be to reduce the reverb on the vocal. Plus reduce the ultra low frequencies on the lead vocal (below 250 hz). This will help the vocal sit better within the sound field. The reason I bring this up is that I cannot understand the lyric all that well. I do not think that is a function of the singer, but a function of the eq, effects and mix. Plus, there is an artifact (crackle) at the end of the piece which should be edited out. These are only technical considerations and are not in anyway negative. This is a beautiful song.
