Reviewer: Barry Osbourn

Positive Comments: Well its a good song and I really like the female voices

Constructive Comments: The playing is a little tight and static, the drum machine is really stiff. and the vocal performance could have a little more happy energy it sounds like your sad or depressed while you singing about Christmas, it almost sounds like a parody? not sure if your being serious or not so If you are trying to be comedic then maybe it is on the mark?

Positive Comments: its a good song and your voice has a good country pitch. Your a good singer, and the playing is pretty good.

Constructive Comments: The thing that stands out to me is that it seems like you need a few more words, some of the verse lines seem a little sparse, I think the song would move along better if you actually had more syllables to fill the space with. the chorus is pretty good theres just a little too much empty space.

Song: Hello Greyhound

Reviewer: Rick McGee

Positive Comments: This song has a retro vibe that I kinda like. The singer has good emotion and grit in his delivery. I like the concept of getting on a Greyhound. Good instrumentation for this Texas country feel. I’d like to hear a little more steel guitar in the mix.

Constructive Comments: It seems like an inconsistent lyric – If you are the one getting on the bus… why is she walking out your door. If she left you… why are you leaving? I like the retro feel, but that could be a problem for some applications because it sounds like a dated mix. A little too much reverb on the vocal for today’s sound. This is a good idea for a song but may need a bit of reworking for current markets.

Positive Comments: The best thing I think is the song itself, its a good story and the lyrics are well done

Constructive Comments: The downside, and I’ll first say that this review system isn’t set up for honesty, if I want my rating to be high but I’ll be straight with you anyway, I think the vocal performance needs some work, The timing is off a little in places and the overall energy is lacking, I say that not from a position of arrogance, I’ve tried to sing my whole life and I just can’t do it, so I write instrumental music, so believe me, I know how hard it is to be a good singer. Your voice quality, pitch isn’t bad, it just sounds a little amateur, maybe if you practice the song more so it flows off your tongue without any hesitation, and the chorus needs a bigger dynamic either with the music or double up your voice, it just doesn’t set itself apart from the verse very well, anyway, its a good song, but I think you should try another take on the vocals.

Positive Comments: There’s a lot of good things in this song. Her voice is good and has a contemporary country sound. Instrumentation is solid and the mix is fine. It has a good groove too.

Constructive Comments: Here’s what bothers me… the story does not fit the music. If you are dancing (on a memory) and singing (to a melody) it sure makes me think happy thoughts. But this is not a happy song. It is a very sad song – especially if you are going to say how he died (cancer). Maybe you were going for a wistful, melancholy vibe of remembering the good times. It didn’t quite make it there for me. Lot’s of potential here. Keep at it!

Positive Comments: great guitar playing, and your vocal pitch is good

Constructive Comments: well theres a few things, I think you need a different beat for the song, something with 8th notes on the high hat to keep the tempo going and it needs to swing s little and I think you’d find the whole song come alive and flow better, it just feels like its dragging as bit the way it is, and the lyrics might need a little work, they’re not bad and I get your story but maybe don’t be so concerned with getting all the facts in and use a little more imagery, color it up a bit, its a little dry. , But you do have a good voice.

Reviewer: Barry Osbourn

Positive Comments: interesting song, almost classical or soundtrack, kinda country soundtrack, Has great emotion and visual connotations. good playing

Constructive Comments: The only thing I could think of of is that the harpsichord sound or whatever that is behind the banjo sound is kinda digital sounding, It might sound better with just a grand piano sound, and I thiknk if you break it down in the middle and let the drums drop out for a measure or two, it would be a great dynamic when they come back in. ,but really good stuff, seems like a great background piece fora western or period piece.

Constructive Comments: nothing. every aspect of this song is good. the only thing I could think of is something I just realized about one of my songs and that is, that the chorus, while its pretty good, might be even better if you did a little more work and switched up the words a bit, add one more alternative phrase to, So you think you can cry, like ” did you even try” or something just to make it a little less redundant. but anyway, hreatwork
