Positive Comments: Catchy little ditty that sounds custom-made for an advertisement, especially for a children’s product.

Song: Black-Hearted Cowboy
Reviewer: Kate Carpenter
Positive Comments: The songwriter tells a good story…one of loneliness, child abuse, hopelessness, and he tells it clearly and well. The vocals are crystal clear and the delivery good. There are some good, clever, original lyrics and rhymes in there.
Constructive Comments: The performance, though good and clear, lacks a certain amount of passion and emotional connection with the song. It’s hard for me to pinpoint it. But black-hearted ought to sound…blacker? Tougher? Meaner? Is he black-hearted because he is evil? Or because his life is one of a loser? Just some random thoughts. It’s a good song, but it could be better. You have a great story line…just looking for something more. The instruments sounded kind of synthy to me.

Song: That’s All Right
Reviewer: David James
Positive Comments: I like the groove of the song. The guitar work is outstanding. I really like rhythm section and the brass arrangement. The singer puts the song over really well. Nicely recorded and mixed. Very catchy. I can hear shades of Steely Dan here.
Constructive Comments: I’ve marked down the lyrics because I feel the rhyme scheme needs mixing up a bit. Overall though I like the song.

Positive Comments: Smooth guitar, some nice progressions.
Constructive Comments: Sorry, but I’m not a fan of synth drums. Personally, I think that real skins would have made this a much better track. Still nice!

Song: Give Me One More Chance (Vocal House Mix), ft Leanne P
Reviewer: David James
Positive Comments: I like the drum intro and the way the bass and vocals enter the song. The vocalist sells the song really well. The hook is very strong and grows with repeated plays. Straight forward but effective lyrics. The song is atmospheric.
Constructive Comments: I would have liked the vocal to be a bit higher in the mix and I feel the instrumentation could have built at 2.10, 2.40 or 3.12 to give the certain sections of track an ecstatic feel and provide the listener with light and shade. That’s why I’ve marked down arrangement and instrumentation. Overall though I like the song.
