Song: Sweeter Than An Alibi / R&B

Reviewer: John Hazlett

Positive Comments: This song has a similar feel as the song, “I Only Have Eyes For You”. But this song is a bit more bittersweet, in which the singer seems not sure how the relationship is going. The singer seems to be reminiscing the better and happy days.

Constructive Comments: Maybe a hair too slow.

Positive Comments: A very nice song that could be used in a church setting with special/meditative music.

Constructive Comments: This isn’t classical music. It’s more like Unique-Religious, or Gospel. This needs a little work in the recording and singing. The singer has a decent voice, but needs to work on adding a little more oomph and projection.

Song: Once Upon A Time / Pop Ballad

Reviewer: Joy A Simons Brown

Positive Comments: I like the lyrics and the arrangement. I also like the entry and exit of the harmony.I hear good songwriting skills and good choice of melody pattern. This song reminds me of something by the Beatles with John Lennon. The lyrics are well delivered by the main vocalist and the song keep my interest right till the end.

Constructive Comments: Good song. However I kept hearing some ‘sustains’ in parts in the song. For instance the piano pedal in the introduction being held too long produces a slight discord. Attention to this would provide cleaner harmonies especially at the end of a line. Cut off the chord before picking up the next phrase. Nice work !!

Song: For a Friend

Reviewer: Joy A Simons Brown

Positive Comments: This instrumental has some interesting points where there is subtle entry and exit of other instruments. Because of the style of it, I see it doing well in a movie on a drive out of town. Clips of it could be used at different points in the movie. It is true to the easy listening genre and reminds me of Cindi Lauper’s Time after Time.

Constructive Comments: If there were to be any improvements, I would suggest a bridge that goes away from the loop for a while since the song is 3 minutes. It would give it even more variety and make it more eligible for placement. Good work !
