Positive Comments: I dig some down & dirty Blues with a naughty feel. Cool hook & chorus that makes keeps rocking while I sing along. Fun vocal presentation that gives a live feel. Good instrumentation that suits the song. Like the keyboard!

Constructive Comments: There were some places in the verses where it seemed to music overpowered the lyrics, and I strain to hear the story.

Positive Comments: I like the blues/rock feel of the arrangement, especially the guitar. Good solos, and good overall sound. Lyrics fit the genre well, and tell a familiar story. Could be a good song to see performed live.

Constructive Comments: I would tighten up the mix/master a bit. Bring the vocals up some so I can better hear the story. Relax a bit more on the vocal presentation. Make it feel live.

Positive Comments: Good idea and hook. I like the instrumentation, especially the guitar. Lyrics and story have potential. Melody has good potential.

Constructive Comments: My only concern would be the vocals. Singer has a good voice for this style, but vocal presentation seems too tense and technical. You have to relax to sing the Blues.

Constructive Comments: The mastering could be a little more “finished”. Vocals fit the song. Could catch a “pitch” here and there.

Song: Eating me up inside

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: Kind of spooky, definitely cerebral, psychological piece that asks a lot of questions. Who’s your friend? Who’s your enemy? Who can you trust to tell the truth and set you straight? All good questions couched in a sparely produced, appropriate arrangement for a very creative piece of work. Great job on those lyrics!

Constructive Comments: Keep the honest stuff coming.

Cleverest lyrics I’ve heard in a long time. Excellent vocal delivery and diction. So refreshing to listen to a song where every word is crystal clear. Guitar playing is excellent and suits song well. Production is perfectly simple. 5 star wow for this song.

Positive Comments: Nice piano intro, confident playing. Gospel-tinged vocals are passionately sung. I like the power of the background hums. Cool violin sounds.

Constructive Comments: What are you saying? I cannot understand all the lyrics. Are those background vocals real or synth? They sound synth. How about the violin? It sounds real. This sound sounds unfinished to me. It leaves me hanging.

Song: DIXIELAND BABY!

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: Here’s a funny song about a guy who wants to meet a girl he sees at one of his gigs. Best lyric: Butterfingers in my beer. What a great line! The guitar signature lick is memorable. The instrumentation is singular and memorable. Love that wah wah sound/mood.

Constructive Comments: The guitar intro – not sure what I didn’t like about it. I asked myself: Slightly out of tune? Old strings? But then as I listened further, it seemed to be the beginning of a honky tonk old timey sound, which I actually ended up liking.Question: Was everyone sober when recording this song? That is not a criticism, just wondering…I had to click on the lyrics to read them to really “get” the song. Second listen helped.
