Song: I Died Too Young

Positive Comments: This song hits the nail on the head…the despair of a young person who hasn’t found his way. Backed up by an awesome band that musically expresses the angst of the vocalist, this track is a masterfully executed (I say this as a compliment) nightmare. The guitar licks are amazing, really expressing the hopeless despair/lostness/anger of the singer. I think this song would really be popular among the 15-25 year old population. They have so much…but so little.

Constructive Comments: I heard this song last Sunday. I had written a review and some personal comments in this box, then accidentally x-ed out the box and lost everything I wrote. I am glad your song came up again my review queue. What I had WANTED to say was: this was me at age 18. Just couldn’t figure out what life was all about, who I was and where I fit into the world. Then on this day, Feb. 10, 1972, (47 years ago) totally unexpected and premeditated, Jesus came into my life and I have never been the same since. He showed me that I was a sinner desperately in need of His love and forgiveness and direction. I so identify with the despair in your song. It was so real to me 47 years ago. If you want to read my story, here is a link:https://www.mrskate.com/spiritual-journeyThanks for sharing your song with me. I will find out who you are and pray for you. Mrs. Kate

Positive Comments: Love the simple piano intro. It’s really pretty. The hook is strong and beautifully sung “She’s stuck in my head.” Nicely done. I like the way the track builds. Vocal is very convincing. The song structure is “out of the box” but I like it.

Constructive Comments: I don’t think the piano should drop out, but be behind there somewhere when you are singing and then coming back out the way it does more centrally when you are not singing. I could not figure out the second line. Stuck in my head is GREAT (sort of like the piano lick) but then getting over…..what? Please explain. Then I clicked on lyrics…and there were none. Bring up vocal in the verses, very hard to understand the lyrics. Ease out the ending a little more gradually.

Constructive Comments: Why do people find it necessary for others to dominate another….we have know idea what goes on behind closed doors…from physical to mental abuse….for the longest time women where left behind as no consequence.when not for us there would be no renewal of life…I read something the other day that in one of Shakespeares plays he wrote “Who’s going to believe you?” add any name.

Positive Comments: Your voice is very clear and the female background vocalist is perfect, your instrumentation is spot on. I really liked the way you presented this song….your female backup is just settle enough not to be obtrusive yet present enough to give your song the right support.

Constructive Comments: Nice job lived it.

Reviewer: Hattie Wilcox Music

Positive Comments: I heard this in gospel blues category and I don’t think it fits here. I think a much better fit in the unique column. Singer is right on pitch, emotive with good feeling. Lyrics are the strongest component and reflect a lot of effort and writer-conscienciousness. My ratings mostly based on fact I felt song was in wrong category. All best, Hattie

Constructive Comments: Change genre for more helpful feedback. Humor is really touch. Talking at front and inside song is very hard to pull off and not make people wish it wasn’t there, so look at that and make sure you really want to include it. I am a big fan of Alan Sherman and Ray Stevens. You might find listening to them interesting, if not inspiring.

Positive Comments: I like the way the songs starts with the electronic key sounds, the drums really have a cool sound as well. I also like where the bass guitar comes in. The song has a trance like quality and it puts me in a good mood.

Constructive Comments: I like this one, great work on the keyboards – I think all the instruments blend well together. It feels like the song could use a saxophone but it’s good the way it is – best wishes!
