Positive Comments: You’ve got it made with this one. When you see a modern jazz pitch, get this in there. If they mention Herbie Hancock, start counting your money. The break in the middle is great. The drums are well programmed. Not just straight rhythm. Create a 30 second and 60 second version for advertisers. Watch for tv theme song pitches as well. Also, think hip. Cool. You know that, but I hear it too. Pitch this a lot.

Constructive Comments: Might break from the lead instrument for part of the song. Just to give the ear a different flavor. The mix is good. You know what you are doing. Good job.

Song: Ride On

Reviewer: Pat Flanakin

Positive Comments: Great instrumentation, production, vocal, arrangement. The song would make a great video of someone traveling through different areas of the country, etc. The arrangement is very pleasant to listen to and gives a hint to a previous time in country music ala Johnny Cash, but remains pretty current. An opportunity reviewer might say it’s not “contemporary country” but there are always some artists that prefer doing this kind of arrangement. The recording is excellent in every way.

Constructive Comments: The only constructive comment I might have would be to elaborate more in the lyric as to why he must “ride on” and if there is a reason that he must do so, or is he just saying that that’s all, all of us must do?

Positive Comments: Wonderful stuff. This will he in a film. Also romantic commercials. There is something sad and poignant under the romance. You’re tearing me up here. The strings are just light enough. I suppose someone might ask for a piano-only version if you have it. Also create 30 second and 60 second mixes. Many clients like that.

Constructive Comments: If you can, make a version without the drums. Don’t ask why. Some clients are picky like that. Might as well have as many versions as possible. Nice sense of development on this, keeps my interest without straying from the mood. You have talent.
