Nick Fuse & Tony R Clef: Love Crime by Nick Fuse

Broadjam Artist: Nick Fuse
Song: Nick Fuse & Tony R Clef: Love Crime

Reviewer: Marie Jarreau

Positive Comments: An interesting style between the vocal tempo and the faster beat of the instruments. The vocals were hard to hear but also a bit hard to understand behind the music. Quality of the instrumental play sounds nice but it seems the instruments were a bit far in front of the vocals making the inflection hard to follow until I opened the lyrics.

Constructive Comments: I think this song COULD have appeal to certain listeners if the vocalist’s inflection could be a bit more clear AND if the production allowed the vocal portion to come more forward of the instruments. Unless a piece of music is an instrumental only, I feel more comfortable listening to the words of the song with the instruments as background. Also, it might be nice to have a little more interest in the piece by adding another instrument or some change up in the progression.

The Other Reverse Gear / Smooth Jazz by Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Song: The Other Reverse Gear / Smooth Jazz

Positive Comments: An instrumental work, unfortunately there wasn’t enough going on to hole my interest here. Seems very monotonous through 40 seconds, where there seemed to be the first tempo change. That tempo change felt very disjointed, uncomfortable and while it kept the same ‘hook’ it still didn’t offer enough to keep my interest. Only out of fairness – I continued to listen to the end, but was still a bit disappointed that nothing ‘new’ captured my imagination. The quality of instrument /production/recording seemed right “ON”, but would love to hear a bit more imagination in the piece.

Constructive Comments: Again, an instrumental piece, keeping the ‘hook’ involved I’d like to hear perhaps a few more octave changes rather than tempo changes to hold the listener’s interest. Maybe add another instrument sound as well. Good job on the actual recorded sound.
