Broadjam Artist: Steve Dafoe – Songwriter
Song: Soulful (R&B/Adult Pop)
Reviewer: Dave Haddad (CenterPeace)
Positive Comments: Very clear recording. Vocal and guitar both sound sweet. Presentation is perfect. This is a sell-able sound, song and artists. I think the vocal is great…. put a band behind this sound and you’ll have a rockin James Taylor or Jim Croce. Every word is clear, this artists is worthy. the effects are really nice… just a hint of delay and a very sweet and pleasing reverb. Best of luck to you!!
Constructive Comments: I like the slightly heavy reverb on everything… it sounds sweet. If you ever need LIVE drum tracks look me up. I have a quality studio, get great sounds and I am an in-demand performer and studio drummer myself. Imagine how get this song would be with a full band… how that break at 2:48 would sound with the band kicking back in and vamping out… I super enjoyed your tracks!!

Broadjam Artist: Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods
Song: Nothing Short Of Paradise / R&B
Reviewer: Dave Haddad (CenterPeace)
Positive Comments: Catchy intro. This is probably backing tracks for a vocal tune. The piano plays a catchy melody. The melodies are very catchy…. Very thematic and drama filled. The structure is solid, melodies are featured and parts arranged well to support. The guitar sound is nice and full, in tune and pleasant.
Constructive Comments: Mix sounds a little distant. Guitars have a lot of reverb and sounds like the microphone which recorded it was placed far away and it is not a classic funky, chunky ‘R&B” sound. This tone reminds my of Dick Dale. Drum groove is lost in the mix, needs to be much more prominent.. the foundation of an R&B song is the rhythm section! This needs to be address, balanced out. Start with a nice popping drum track. Match the bass with the kick and build your sound from that starting point. Don’t let the collective sounds/instruments overpower your rhythm section. Only think about the melodies is I thought either some were too long or stacked one after another.. the lead sound kind of needed to change at some point. I am sure these are backing tracks to a female vocal.

Positive Comments: Very creative ideas. Multiple layers of synthesizer parts gives this song a nice full arrangement. Funky drum loop. All the sounds are pretty nice. The mix is pretty solid with the drums right where they need to be. I like the interplay between the synth parts. It take good musical skills to create the harmony and structure of this song. Congrats!
Constructive Comments: The clean electric guitar makes the song sound more folk or soft rock than funk. Mix-wise: the synth parts which are feature are a little too loud until around 1:25 then they sit back better. Again the synth that enters at 2 minutes begins ok but it gets very loud. These sounds are very ‘in your face’ to begin with so they don’t also need to be so featured in the spectrum. Something is missing on the low end of the track… maybe it’s the bass sound is thin. Ending was heartless… as production goes this is demo quality and definitely not funk.
