Positive Comments: Cool intro, drums sound good for programmed sounds. Nice recording of the guitar, sounds classic but fresh. Rhythm tracks are also pleasant to listen to. Nice melodies. By the second listen through I was able to hear the arrangement better. A little reminiscent of the 60’s surfer phase so if you were going for that, you mailed it.

Constructive Comments: A ton of reverb on everything but it does create a vibe. The bottom end drops out somewhat at 1:30 then back in again good at about 1:45. I would compress the bass really hard to even out the volume discrepancies. A little awkward transition back to the second verse… sounded like maybe one less bar to get right back into the verse could have worked better but I trust that you tried everything and this worked best. Again at 1:47 a little confusing as when the phrase begins. Little things here and there in the programming but it is what it is. All live tracks would really help this song.

Positive Comments: A slight Santana vibe. Song is carried by the lead guitar. I liked the little rhythm drop out at 2:30 before the guitar solo. There is a solid hook within the song, the guitar playing is what makes it for me.

Constructive Comments: Sounded like there was a pop s seconds in, before the kick came in. Kick is also too hot in the mix, also I would roll off the highs a little, it is too ‘poppy’ or ‘snappy’. There are double hits on the kick drum everywhere two at :30 and another at 1:21 and 2:08. You gotta go erase one of the doubled notes. Production is the presentation of your music… It is hard for me to hear the song with so many distractions.Having acoustic guitar playing the rhythm with all the other electronic elements does not work for me. Hip hop drum kit all programmed then adding the acoustic for the foundation is not blending.

Positive Comments: Super playing and singing in a bluesy very Stevie Ray style, very nicely done indeed.

Constructive Comments: Don’t really have any criticism, guitar playing smokes, vocals are solid enough, song is well put together. Very, very, well done. If I had any complaint at all it would be that it sounds just a tiny bit regimented, I have this sense the drums are programmed, if not your drummer has monster time.

Lets Go Again / Rock & Roll by Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Broadjam Artist: Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods
Song: Lets Go Again / Rock & Roll

Reviewer: Matt Mereu

Positive Comments: I really love the melody and feel of the guitar. It really grabs me — real upbeat and happy.

Constructive Comments: In it’s present form, the track is basically a jam around a central riff — a very little riff. The track would benefit from much more clarity and separation in the mix. This could be achieved through less reverb, or recording in a room that has been better treated acoustically more attention to eq, compression, doubling tracks, panning individual parts hard left and right, all in an effort to bring out the energy and vibe of the track.

Positive Comments: This track is well recorded and well played. I like the dark change at 3:00. This is a nice mood piece. The vocal is very good when it finally comes in.

Constructive Comments: This is clearly meant to be a conventional song, but rather a mood piece. I would be perhaps fill out the arrangement a bit more — bringing things in, dropping things out, etc. to keep the listener’s interest up. Overall, I think it achieves what it sets out to do, which is to create a mood.
