Positive Comments: The strong point in this song is the chorus. Very cool rhymes and melody, catchy with great background vocals. Vocal is soulful and harmonies are sweet. Great word pictures (rusty old chevy). Song expresses a pretty universal truth: We can never get the past days back. “Beaten our rage to a whisper/sister” great lyric.

Constructive Comments: Please post the lyrics. Nice job on this song!

Positive Comments: Who doesn’t love a good train song? This one is fun because you can take it so many ways. It reminded me of a model train enthusiast with his sweetheart/wife joining in the fun (not necessarily in the train room.) The rhymes are fun…ex: Lionel/Hell. The dynamic instrumentation is exceptionally fine, especially that hot harmonica and great guitar. Very trainlike! This track has a great energy and dynamism to it from start to finish. Very cool intro with twangy guitar.

Constructive Comments: The rhyme scheme was a little strange.

Nick Fuse & Jim Pearson: Betterman by Nick Fuse

Song: Nick Fuse & Jim Pearson: Betterman

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: The understated banjo gives this track a front porch feel along with the laid back, mellow vocal. The theme of being a better man is carried well from the first to the last verse. Vocal was clear and nicely sung. I really like the banjo accompaniment and the simplicity of the production ans recording.

Constructive Comments: I found this song to be fairly well written, but the language and connotations were rather offensive to me. I know everyone in this world is too easily offended. Please understand that I have nothing against you. I just found the p… and n… and a…. references personally distasteful. Nothing against you as a songwriter. Just a personal preference due to my beliefs.

Positive Comments: Oh what a voice! Love the open tuning and the guitar playing – totally captivating. Thunderstorm sound effects were terrific. Lyrics are rather stream of consciousness…the kind of song you want to listen to just because it’s so cool…even if you don’t understand everything he’s singing about. The guitar rendition is so energy-infused. You almost wish you had a video to watch him play. Recording is crystal clear. Somebody knew how to mike this guitar! Love the slides.

Constructive Comments: I know who this is. Chet Nichols. Don’t let all these great reviews go to your head. Stay humble, bro. Mrs. Kate

Positive Comments: The simple intro was very nice, it was unexpected when the instruments picked up. The singer had a nice Chris Stapleton kind of vibe. You have lots of texture in your voice, it lent well to the bluesy tone of the song. I enjoyed the song, very unique.

Constructive Comments: I would have liked to hear a little more of why you felt worn out in the lyrics, a little more of the story. Your production is very good. It may be my computer, but almost felt the vocal needed to be a little louder, it seemed like the music was much louder. You did a good job with it.
