Positive Comments: I liked the groove of the track, although I would say it’s more smooth jazz than reggae. The B section is a bit more reggae-sounding than the A, though. The drumming was refreshing, almost certainly a live drummer rather than sequenced…and I should know, having put too damn much time into trying to get a human sound out of my MIDI drums! I can imagine myself humming along to the song while driving down the freeway.
Constructive Comments: I think this track would have benefited from a bit better arrangement. I kept wanting another instrument to come in and complement the guitar part to add emphasis to key parts. Also, I found the form a bit odd…the sections changed up unexpectedly, and to me took away from the smooth groove of the piece. I would also have preferred less FX on the guitar, which to my taste muddied up the track a bit. I try to adhere to the “Less is More” philosophy, which I feel would have brought the guitar out front more and lent a bit more clarity to the production.I do want to hear more from you, so keep cranking out the music!
