Positive Comments: The piano parts have promise, however the quality of the piano’s sound seems a bit low. The piano sounded a bit distorted to me ?

Constructive Comments: I think you’re on the right track here, but here are a couple of suggestions: bring the background vocals down, they are over-powering the lead vocal at times making it hard to understand what you are saying ? Also, the drop that you put in place in the arrangement is well noted, but needs more weight. The song has some nice build to it in places, but in my opinion you need to balance the songs builds, drops and dynamic better. You seem to have a nice sense of arrangement, keep moving.

Positive Comments: Reminds me of stuff that Brian Eno did or even maybe the Talking Heads. I like the generous use of the various instruments and the vocal work seems spot on to me.

Constructive Comments: Main main suggestion is try making the lyrics to the song more understandable. The lyrics to a song should be first and foremost and should be easily understood even when someone is listening to the song on a lap. At times I can’t begin to understand what you are saying or singing about.Keep the instrumentation at bay, they should be used to support the lyrics and the song. Overall I was inspired hearing your music and your concepts, nicely done.

Left Out of Paradise ** Latin Jazz by Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Song: Left Out of Paradise ** Latin Jazz

Reviewer: Charles Valona

Positive Comments: Since I’m a guitarist I like the guitar as the song’s main instrument. I also like the song’s melody. This music and style reminds me of Gabor Sabo.

Constructive Comments: Your recording methods / technical abilities will need improvement if you are going to compete. The recording has way to much extraneous white noise, including to many high pitched guitar string sliding squeaks. And since I’m not a fan at all of drum machines, I’d lose it all together and just go with your own body rhythm to set the flow of the music. Drum machines are ok for making scratch demos, but that’s it. Hire a real drummer, thank God there are still a few of these around.Overall nice work, keep going.

Positive Comments: Enjoyed the lyrics and their imagery – great work on those. I hear ELO elements, even Dire Straits influences in the song. Like the spoken stuff at the end too. Lots of good ideas here.

Constructive Comments: I think you can develop the song more – get some variations in the drum patterns and in the style of guitar parts beyond just chords. The lead was buried in the mix – I’d bring it up unless you did that on purpose.
