Broadjam Artist: Marilyn Hall
Song: Salvation Army Man
Reviewer: Jeff Roberts
Positive Comments: This tune eases in and then gathers a head of steam with an almost train beat drum part and clockwork tight country bass line. This has a compelling story in the great vocal, lyrics and the telling is really musical with great phrasing, eg “just a salvation army man” –that’s a great moment there. This reminds me of Bruce Hornsby in its compassion and skillful composition.
Constructive Comments: The guitar is a bit boomy–you probably need some subtractive EQ around 200-500K. Similarly I think you need some EQ work to optimize the vocal and make it cut through a bit better. Very strong work here!!
