Too Hep For the Room NEW SAX by Margie & Art Corey

Song: Too Hep For the Room NEW SAX

Reviewer: Jeff Roberts

Positive Comments: This sounds like an Eddie Money hit from 1984–maybe covering a Roy Orbison tune. Very smooth crooner vocals, and I’m pretty sure this is Art. I like the way the pulse keeps grooving in the background–that’s really effective along with the smooth guitar arpeggios. Nice sax work.

Constructive Comments: The production needs major tweaks. Overall it needs to be mastered at a higher volume. The vocals have way too much reverb and they’re very low relative to the overall mix. Same with the sax I’d go for a vocal that sits way on top and has an almost recitative close mic intimacy. The tune is good –it needs more presence through the mix.

When I Met You by John Masarone

Positive Comments: Wheezer & Ben Folds vibe here with plenty of cowbell. There are echoes of You Won’t See Me and Drive My Car from the Beatles. There’s real song craft here in the structure. Great bridge at 1:16. The drums, bass, r guitar, and percussion sound really cool during the solo section.

Constructive Comments: John sing in the keys you can reach without straining!! This is really killing this tune. I think the fuzz riff guitar is too high in the mix.

Te Amo / Latin Samba by Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Broadjam Artist: Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods
Song: Te Amo / Latin Samba

Reviewer: Dave Haddad (CenterPeace)

Positive Comments: Nice melody. The distant tone, panning and reverb gives the guitar a peaceful but sad almost remorseful feel. Really nice overall feel and vibe in this piece. Great use of a theme which you stayed true to, thank you! Good bit of song writing, I love the descending parts in the melody… the tone, mic and vibe reminds me of Buckhead!!

Constructive Comments: Nice job with the drum programming, there are some super sweet sections but then there are parts that not anything a drummer would play. I am reviewing in Latin – Samba, this is more of a Bossa Nova than a Samba. No big deal just letting you know.

Positive Comments: A foreboding intro gives way to a theater – Broadway Musical song with all the intrigue that the intro suggests and more. The song structure has the markings of a skilled composer. Passionate and cathartic this song has purpose and is mesmerizing.

Constructive Comments: I am reviewing in Latin – Samba… this is more of a Tango than anything else. Song jumped into the “B Section” a little abruptly, then back into the verse same thing, maybe it worked better than adding a bar or 4 of vamp but it felt maybe like a punch or an abrupt change. String sound was not great, I understand it is old. Little vocal harmonies could have been slightly louder especially in the lower registered accompaniment.
