Positive Comments: Nice laid back “Killer Joe” horn arrangement and what a nice surprise when that languid vocal comes in. Echoes of Maria Muldaur, Joni Mitchell, Diana Krall, Bobbi Gentry, and well, whoever this is singing. I love this vocal timbre and performance–there’s a range from smoky to an almost trumpet tone with cutting high mids when she pushes. I love that part of the bridge where the female vocal comes in with “nobody knows I’m there”. There is so much to like here–I really enjoyed this!!

Constructive Comments: Real horns needed. There are things to tweak in the arrangement IMO but that would be a day spent thinking about it.

Positive Comments: Nice vibe here, this starts out almost like a Chicago tune from the 70’s and moves into Van Morrison / Boz Scaggs / Leon Russell territory with a really pleasing tenor vocal performance. Nice bridge. This could have been a hit in 1978 but it’s a classic anytime.

Constructive Comments: Real horns are needed, but you knew that. The arrangement is very good though.

Positive Comments: Nice vibe here, this starts out almost like a Chicago tune from the 70’s and moves into Van Morrison / Boz Scaggs / Leon Russell territory with a really pleasing tenor vocal performance. Nice bridge. This could have been a hit in 1978 but it’s a classic anytime.

Positive Comments: This has a very cool groove and vibe. The bass line is really lyrical and outlines the minor changes underneath. Love the organ chirps and moans. This reminds me of Macy Gray’s “I’ve Committed Murder”.

Constructive Comments: That’s a cool bass line but the sound is too “Seinfeld” IMO. Do that on a nice driven bass amp without the chorusing. It could stand alone as an instrumental with a true solo instrument (guitar or sax) on top really wailing.
