Song: love is a dirty word

Positive Comments: Nice intro. Great sound quality…really well recorded. Strong lead vocal and good use of backing vocals. The musicians are really tight. Lovely guitar work. Great drumming and bass. The bridge is just right and I like the slower acoustic interlude at the end of the bridge.

Constructive Comments: It’s a really good song which is well performed…the sound quality, vocal and playing is excellent. A radio ready recording in my opinion. Certainly worth pitching for the right opportunity.

Positive Comments: This ain’t Ska–it’s really good Cajun music, and I like it. Great vocals, recording, and performances in instruments. The song is a classic structure, and the accordion is always a mood lifter. Nice La La’s too!! There’s a bit of tongue in cheek here, and this could almost be a Dan Hicks tune–it’s got that combination of chops and playful attitude. Or Texas Tornados. Really nice work here!!

Constructive Comments: Nothing this is really cool and fun!!

Song: Tell Me A Secret Or So

Reviewer: Jeff Roberts

Positive Comments: What a great voice! Nice scale chord movement underneath the melody. The chorus comes in right where needed with some strong lyrics and rhyming/phrasing. Nice bright sound in the mix with a lot of clarity. The drums and bass are tight & appropriate to the song. The steel and fiddle leads are very tasty. This is music to polish your belt buckle to!!

Constructive Comments: Shoot nothing really. I don’t know if there’s any market for this old school music but I sure liked it!

Constructive Comments: I think drums or a strong percussion track would add a lot to this.

Positive Comments: This sounds like a lost Eddy Cochran tune. It’s classic and really true to the Rock n Roll form. The recording isn’t there to really show it off but you can tell it rocks. Tight performance and great vocals. Go cat go. Nice work!!

Constructive Comments: Some guitar tuning issues. The mix/recording is weak –is this a rescue from a tape?

Song: What You’re Leaving Behind

Positive Comments: This sounds like a classic Janis Ian or Phoebe Snow song from the 70’s. Really really strong vocals, lyrics, and song construction. It has that classic Joe Osborne pick bass sound, and some really superb arrangement touches–like the changes on that pre-chorus melody and changes (“gave me no warning signs” ). The vocal vibrato is fine as single malt scotch. What a pleasure to listen to this!

Constructive Comments: Well it’s a dated, period piece, but dang it’s fantastic.

Positive Comments: The is a passionate song with some very strong lyrics and strong vocal performances. I think an even better song is just around the corner!!

Constructive Comments: I’m gonna poke at this but with the intent of helping. I think the musical bed underneath is way too static–there isn’t enough pulse/beat overall, there’s no bridge section, the chords don’t work with the melody, and it is just basically bland although the sounds nice. The male vocal, for me anyway, has too much hard breathing masquerading as passion. Can you get more conviction without the heavy breaths? (always a taste call as to whether you edit the breath sounds out or not). At around 3:00 the female vocal gets really pitchy. I can’t understand what your lyric hook is even with multiple listens.

Positive Comments: Very strong arrangement and recording with big sounds and a lot of world groove! Flawless execution of the parts, with a lot of layers/timbres to enjoy. It reminds me of Weather Report.

Constructive Comments: Forgive me but I just find this really generic at this point. This stuff has been done so much. The synth patch in that one break-out / bridge part is cheesy to my ears. But then again, I don’t like Weather Report so keep that in mind!

Positive Comments: The vocalist is very talented and has a pleasant tone. this song has a 60s folk vibe to it and really has potential in film. Although there are no surprises, It’s recorded well and the arrangement is spot on.

Constructive Comments: None really, decent work here. Maybe a few more backing vocals and harmonies would be nice but that’s just my taste. Thanks for the listen.

Positive Comments: Whoa I LOVE that guitar tone and the ominous parts you’re playing. And then the off-beat drums & bass are coming just as cool. Strong vocals with captivating lyrics. The ambient parts behind in the mix are adding a lot of vibe. And the chorus just kicks ass. There are even some Prog touches in the arrangment. This reminds me of Kevin Gilbert, Kings X, and Dream Theatre. This is a freakin’ outrageously good effort.

Constructive Comments: Sheeitt like what? This fucking kicks ass. Well done.
