Song: Bird In The Hand
Reviewer: Jeff Roberts
Positive Comments: This sounds like Tommy James Tuggin the Line meets Steve Wonder’s Masterblaster! And maybe just a bit of Tower of Power too. Nice groove and a lot of clean space in the mix Sassy wah solo with nice bouncy phrasing–it sounds really good over top of the powerful bass riffing and big 4/4 beat. Pretty sure this is John. The answering vocals are working great. Love that rhythm section work!
Constructive Comments: I’d want to tone the bass a bit dark or dirty it up just tiny bit–it’s a little bit bright/squeaky. But that is a killer part. What about a second guitar part that counterpoints the first on the left? I hate to say it but the vocal is really pitchy in a lot of places here, and it sounds so strained like you’re trying to let your inner Michael Bolton out. There are easier ways of getting in that can even sound more hip.
