Positive Comments: Love the melody concept. Beautiful song with beautiful chord structure. Nice tempo for an easy listening piece. You have a good start to a great song.

Constructive Comments: For me, this sounds like the basic structure of a beautiful song. It needs instrumentation to really make it come alive. Maybe a little more variation in the song would help as well. You have a tremendous beginning here. Build on it and make it spectacular. You’re on your way!

Positive Comments: Good groove in the keyboards and piano work. Nice bass line, happy and bouncy. Good use of percussive sounds. Very pretty melodic ideas and nice cycle. Good use of the organ, effective especially around 2:46.

Constructive Comments: Groove sounds very quantized and mechanical. Little distortion when the piano puinches hard. It happens to everyone, its not you. Bass too. Try to set your gain structure a little lower accounting for performance excitement. At times the song sounds a bit empty, needs a little more glue, the organ does a good job. Maybe the strings needed to be louder, for sure, a little more strings and a little less piano in parts.. then it gets too low in the end. SO there are mix problems which are a major part of your presentation… A listener shouldn’t be distracted by production glitches. This song is old, I can tell but still try for the best production you can. Some of the String notes aren’t working for me 1:57 – 2:21… maybe simplify the strings.

Positive Comments: Interesting blend of samples and instruments. Fine attention to detail.. love the panning on the pads, this is somewhat new and refreshing to my ears. Koto with a tabla loop suggests an Asian vibe then the tune becomes western jazz. Very nice tones.. love the chords behind the bass lead. Great bass sound! Excellent blend on the low end this time!! Very good frequency spread. Re-intro was sweet with the bass harmonica and subtle pads…. groovy as hell! B section is so chill with the quarter note ride. Dope pause, made me look to see if the song ended too early… NICE affect. Great bass!! Perfectly used as the lead in this song… not at all over done or showcasing, not under done either. Every nice arranging.

Constructive Comments: Ok I am at the end of the song and just now hearing something I could critique. I thought the fade was a too quick and abrupt. For a song as laid back as this, the fader hand lacked the smooth soothing vibe of the tune. I really liked this song Mark, just beautiful and groovy. Shaker got out of control for a sec at 2:14… like a reverb channel bleed or some kind of technical glitch. Great stuff, only thing would make it better is more live instruments (players on microphones).

Song: & a dash of Pollock /New Age Progressive

Reviewer: Dave Haddad (CenterPeace)

Positive Comments: Really hip arrangement. Free-spirited and happy go lucky. I like the randomness of everything. Especially enjoyed the acoustic bass. Good sound choices, nice array of complimentary instruments.

Constructive Comments: Sounds like an attempt at “free jazz” or avant-garde. Slightly in the ‘noodling’ territory… sound did not have a distinguishable hook. Pops around 1:35, probably needs a cross-fade there.
