Positive Comments: Well the first thing that hit me was the quality of the sound, the vocal and the instrumentation. To expand on my initial thoughts, the vocal is excellent with strong backing vocals, great musicianship all round. Nicely mastered with good stereo separation.

Constructive Comments: This is really not my genre, but I can recognise quality when I hear it.It’s a very strong piece of work which must have commercial potential. If you haven’t marketed this song to a wider audience then I advise you that you should without delay.

Positive Comments: Very imaginative. A really catchy song, with a 60’s retro feel. Nice change at 1.45. Strong vocal and good use of backing vocals. I like the megaphone interventions. Great outro… I love the way the drums go off into the distance at the end.

Constructive Comments: I had marked down the recording quality, but with hindsight I uprated it because it fits the retro feel perfectly. This really is a piece of work that is worth pitching for the an appropriate retro listing. Good work all round.

Positive Comments: Great whiskey soaked barroom Bukowski poet lyrics spit out in between sips. Really liked the change-up at the end of the song… memorable.. got a cool mechanical, machinery outside the window working on the busted boiler guitar.

Constructive Comments: I don’t know.. the piano fill repetition kind of wore on… maybe some way to break it up a little… maybe even simpler but more rhythmic and less noodling. Minor point. Its just that the lyrics and delivery are too good for dime store ivories.

Swing Chair Blues / Blues Rock by Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Broadjam Artist: Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods
Song: Swing Chair Blues / Blues Rock

Reviewer: Norb Studelska/Upper Air Disturbance

Positive Comments: The intro guitars are so clean, and I liked the almost surf effect. Then came the contrast of the layered leads with a more distorted effect. You made them work together quite well. I also liked the interplay of the layered leads multiple rhythms. Strong bass track which reinforced the basic structure. The percussion was effectively understated. I wanted to hear more, so I replayed the tune several times. Nice!

Constructive Comments: My only suggestion, not a criticism, would be to add one more verse to the tune. This certainly would not make it cumbersome or make it “drag out”. Your tune contains enough different musical ideas that I can’t hear this happening.

Positive Comments: Kind of reminded me of my old cassette of Rough Mix by Townsend and Lane, or maybe Lindisfarne. Nice melody and the guitar work just fits in perfectly. Nice chugging bass and cracking drums. great song. Looking forward to checking out more.

Constructive Comments: There were a few rough spots in the vocals, but on the other hand, I HATE overly perfect auto tuned stuff! Kind of part of the charm of the song. Only other comment would be to vary the dynamics, maybe work in some of that funky organ part before the very end.

Positive Comments: Really nice vocal. Starts with the great melody and brings it home with the prominent imaging of the vocals in mid song. Liked the chugging bass to counter the soft keyboards. Nice tempo and rhythmic feel.

Constructive Comments: I guess the only constructive comment I would make is to invest as much originality in the lyrics as the rest of the song. I’d say your are about 2/3 of the way there already. Just need to find ways to replace the slogans and cliches with fresh ideas, even if it says the same thing, it reaches people at a different level.

Positive Comments: Fine uplifting song, timely and unfortunately timeless. Like the way you landed somewhere between old Dylan and Pink Floyd… The melody really grows on you… had it in my head by the end of the song.

Constructive Comments: Just a thought. The ending is very moving and it might make sense to actually build up the repeating chorus to a group sing…. before finally fading out…make it more anthemic. Something to leave the listener marching along!
