Song: An Island NEW MIX

Reviewer: David James

Positive Comments: I liked the way the guitar fades in after the seaside sounds. It’s a lovely dreamy track. The chord progression is beautiful. Great vocal delivery. Lovely arrangement. It takes me to the sea. I can really feel it.

Constructive Comments: My only criticism is with the mastering. The overall sound is slightly muted. That’s why I’ve marked down the recording quality. It would be a shame if that prevented the song from being picked up for commercial use. I would revisit the mastering so that the song is presented in the quality which it deserves.

Positive Comments: A very strong performance all round. Great vocal delivery. Nice instrumental arrangement. Well mastered…it really jumps out of the speakers. It’s a contemporary sound, which is good from a marketing point of view. Good use of light and shade in terms of the production.

Constructive Comments: I would say it’s radio ready. It’s certainly good enough for pitching to industry listings. Good luck with this.

Positive Comments: Lovely stereo separation. Nicely mastered…it jumps out of the speakers. I like the dynamism of the tune. The guitar work is lovely. It’s very melodic. Great drum sound. Just the right length for an instrumental such as this.

Constructive Comments: My only real comment is that I would have used a more subtle keyboard patch. The guitar is the king here but the keyboard is trying to muscle in onto its ground on the first part of the piece.

Constructive Comments: Great sounding song, I love the drums and the recording. This song is radio ready with a lot of get up and go. The only thing that I don’t like is the first ten seconds or so, instead I would start the song with the first drum beats – best wishes!

Song: Gettin’ Our Church On

Reviewer: Scott Tingley

Positive Comments: This is the kind of country music I want to hear back on the radio instead of some of the trash that’s passing as mainstream these days. This song could be one of those that leads the charge in turning the tide to a return of real music. Sounds a little like Hank Jr. The organic jam of electric guitar, bass guitar and poundin’ drums work powerfully well with the great lead vocal. Love the spiritual message and this song. Keep rockin’.

Constructive Comments: It would be interesting to hear your band record a version of this with a Hammond B3 and a chick back up singer. There’s a lot to this song.
