Positive Comments: This song grabbed my attention right away, I would definitely listen to this one often. Unique, great instrumentation, the singer’s voice fits perfect with the song, the harmonies are great and I love the vocalizations that surround the lead. Very much dug the key change as well, since it’s a shorter song it really gives it a boost near the end. The lyrics too are simple but tell a story.

Constructive Comments: The only suggestion I can think of is, there was a part at the beginning where the instruments were a bit louder and I couldn’t understand/hear the vocals very well, so just balancing that out.

Positive Comments: The message that the song was sending was very good, uplifting, definitely the kind of thing people like to listen to these days.

Constructive Comments: It was a bit surprising to see this song in the folk-rock genre as this isn’t really in that category. I would probably put it in a pop subgenre somewhere. The quality of the recording at least in the vocals could use some work. While the message of the lyrics is great, the lyrics could use some work.

Song: Goodbye Doesn’t Mean Goodbye (Instrumental)

Reviewer: The Bitter Elegance

Positive Comments: This sounds really marketable to my ears – interesting and moving with a nice sonic story throughout. The chord progression on the tag is amazing. This sounds very contemporary without sounding trendy. I love hearing a “country” instrumental. This well performed and produced, and I actually was sad it ended – I got lost in the mood of this!

Constructive Comments: The mix could be helped greatly by moving either the piano or the acoustic guitar into a different octave…where they currently sit, they are fighting for sonic space right in the middle. Both parts are lovely and emotive, so I can see why they both exist, I just think some strategic separation would help the overall soundscape quite a bit.All in all, GREAT JOB!

Positive Comments: I thing most of the instruments were very well played, I liked the acoustic guitar most, and the harmonies with the vocals. The lead vocalist had a nice voice that had a great tone in general that I really liked.

Constructive Comments: The electric guitar seems almost out of place. If it was blended in a little better and maybe used it to rhythm strum it would bring the song together nicely. It’s something I felt like I would focus on too often. I would also suggest even bumping up the tempo a little bit, it would just bring it up a notch and give it a bit of a boost.

Song: One Day Off

Reviewer: Emma VanDyk

Positive Comments: The vocals are really good, this sounds like something that I would listen to in the car on an easy listening radio station. The instrumentation is also very well done, it’s original and it isn’t just a four chord song which I always appreciate. The end is my favourite with the “aaahs”, the harmonies blend together very nicely.

Constructive Comments: The song unfortunately didn’t flow together as nicely as it could have, I would suggest a different sound for the electric guitar, maybe something with a bit less distortion. The lyrics could use some more time spent on them as well, some of the words sounded like they would rhyme just for rhyming sake. Try to find new words to use.

Song: Gone

Reviewer: Gladstone Avenue

Positive Comments: Really well produced country sound. Nice male vocal and the lyrics work well together and smoothly. Thought the melody and melody construction of the chorus was particularly appropriate and reinforced the lyrical hook so nicely. Song ended just in time. Slow country can sometimes just drag on and on, but not this time. Perfect.

Constructive Comments: Nothing negative. Well done!

Positive Comments: Really great vocal and instrumentation. Listened a couple of times just to hear the blend of guitar bass, piano and fiddle. Strong hook and the song speeds along nicely–never hits a snag. Foot tapping country. Loving the vocalist. Nicely mixed too. Nicely done!

Constructive Comments: Can’t think of anything I would do differ improvements.
