Song: As Long As It Bleeds
Reviewer: James Neilson Graham
Positive Comments: Great soul singing, gutsy, committed and musical. Surely this voice will go far (if it hasn’t already). The uncluttered piano accompaniment sets off the voice. The beat is implied rather than belaboured (no drums) which takes courage. Echoes of Nina Simone perhaps.
Constructive Comments: This is the kind of song which could build, starting with just piano and letting instruments (including drums?) enter progressively towards an emotional rocking ‘finale’.
