Positive Comments: I totally dig this song…one of the best funny blues songs I have heard on BJ…or maybe at all. I love the original humorous lyrics and the performance is fun and real and right on target. The horns are totally cool. Your verses are soooo well written comical and fresh and oh so real. screens/vacation dreams – great rhyme. Talkin’ blues at end is a great way to finish it off. I love love love those crystal clear, easily understandable vocals. I hope I get to hear more of your creativity soon!

Constructive Comments: I wrote a song called Google It. You might get a kick out of it…my phone song. I just really admire your artistry and wish you the best! Mrs. Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: This is as cool as it gets jazz-wise. A very pleasant “easy-listening” song. I really like the bass. Loved some of those smooth keyboard licks and runs. Nice build there at 2:38 and liked the pause at that point. Way to give it a rest and resume.

Constructive Comments: So….how much of this was done on a synthesizer? Just curious. You might vary the percussion a little bit more every now and then.

Positive Comments: I like this song! The last free man in America holds up the hard work, family and loyalty values that have made this nation strong. The message comes through loud and clear. The rhymes are fresh and the hook is catchy. I like the “welfare line” lyric. The part about the re-runs is so true. Too many people plop themselves mindlessly in front of the television set…the numbing of America. I like the part about St. Peter sending him back, too. And the rocking chair and the front porch…you paint some really nice word pictures. Nicely done, songwriter!

Constructive Comments: I wonder what this song would sound like “sung and played in the country genre?” Would it be more marketable? Just a curious question. The only issue I had with this song is I couldn’t make out maybe 10% of the lyrics, but I definitely got the message.

Positive Comments: Great opening I like that you are in both ears with 2 different voices, your opening reminded me of Cher’s Halfbreed. I don’t know why but there you have it. good luck with this.

Constructive Comments: I did have a hard time hearing your vocals real clear…maybe you could bring the vocal up a little in the mix or background a little lower….I really like where you are going with this…

Constructive Comments: I only try to find positive things to say but once in awhile something sticks out that I hear. the harmony sounded a little harsh to my ear. But that might just be my ears so you really have great sounds I think I know who this is, and always give the best.

Positive Comments: Really a funny and easy-going song. Reminds me a bit of Ray Davies and The Kinks…. Fun groove and I like the idea behind the song and it has a great groove to it. I enjoyed the lead singers lilting voice. There is also a intriguing, fun-loving vibe to the lyrics. All in all, a nifty tune that made me smile and laugh.

Constructive Comments: OK, you see my positive comments, right? There is a LOT going for this song….but I am going to give you my constructive impressions. First of all, this is in NO WAY a Chicago Blues song. It is MUCH More in a New Orelans groove…even dixieland and the instrumentation and arrangement would be brilliant if you steered the song in THAT direction. Clearly, you were having fun making this song, but it really could be a fabulous tune with a better arrangement and a better recording. Of course, perhaps your recording set-up is restricting you. For instance, the drums need to be centered and not planted at 3 o’clock in the right channel. The lead vocal is lost in the mix and needs to be centered, while the background vocals are fun, but very pitchy in a number of places. The instrumentation is very solid but needs to be embellished. So, I am guessing this is a demo of some sort….and I am telling you honestly that, it deserves a really great recording, arrangement and fix the touches mentioned above and you will really have a dy-no-mite song with a lot of potential. I’d think of using a soft dixie-land type horn group in the background….smooth out the background vocals, add a McCartney-like bouncy bass to it and make the tune really swing….and you will drive this song right out of the ballpark.I hope these notes help and inspire you….the song really deserves a hard look at it….oh, yeah, and the end of the song goes on a wee bit too long AFTER you have ended the instrumentation…soft studio noises…Best to you and thanks for sharing……
