Song: Be My Redeemer-Revised
Reviewer: Kate Carpenter
Positive Comments: This is a beautiful Christian song with a believable, passionate, plaintive vocal. I really like his voice! Clear and expressive, very honest…sounds like he really means the prayer “Be my Redeemer.” The chorus is very memorable and reminds me of another hymn, but I can’t quite put my finger on which one. Careful attention was paid to the lyric writing and it shows. The simple piano accompaniment suits the song well…no over-production needed here. Great job, brother keep up the good work.
Constructive Comments: The only pitch issue I heard was “Come unto me.” Can his truth, can his love make me whole? at .26….the song needs a little time/space there. You asked a question…how about a little time to ponder that with some instrumentation or quiet. The song rushes on too fast at that point, in my opinion. This is a short song with a long ending. You have time at the end to “do more” with your hook. If you ever re-visit this song recording-wise, you could ponder making the ending more dramatic, beef it up a little somehow…just a suggestion. Key change even?
