Broadjam Artist: The Sugar Pups
Song: Modern Days
Reviewer: Jeff Maguire
Positive Comments: Slow ballad similar to Springsteen in a dark mood, maybe as performed by an 80’s angst ridden self confession style band,
Constructive Comments: Instruments are a little cheesy sounding, and sax solo tends to meander, it really shouldn’t be almost 7 minutes long, but the build about 4 minutes begins to show the songs potential and is really pretty good. Overall I can’t say the lyrics do much for me, a guy loses his way … pretty common event, tell me why should I care? Lyrics this vague can sometimes work but it requires GREAT and powerful music to tell the story. The music has it’s moments but I would personally try and shave it down to no more than four minutes by taking the best and most powerful musical moments to build for maximum impact.
