Song: Time To Celibrate Christmas

Reviewer: Floyd Kelly

Positive Comments: The Tinsel Toy Wonderland has opened ladies and gentlemen! Light the Christmas Tree! A twinkle here, a twinkle there. A twinkle everywhere! The children stand in awe as this whimsical holiday musical entertains the audience at the lighting of the biggest baddest and twinkliest tree you’d ever seen in Tinsel Toy Wonderland!

Constructive Comments: I would exploit the first part of this review. For this piece of music, the chosen instruments, the chords – even juvenile in nature has a niche market. In this case, as I described in the first part of this review, that’s the market you want – toys and Christmas season. If you ever do another version of this at the least, real instrument soundfonts for some harmony and realism which would give this piece a whole new genre or market. An additional string section would enhance the chord harmonics.

Positive Comments: The tender vocal line in this song is something you simply must listen to … a nice song for Mother’s Day or special moments for family. I’m also imagining this song being played as the backing for a montage animation telling a story a la Disney.

Constructive Comments: I think the vocal line could be more present in the mix and perhaps a little more expression in the vocalist. The base of the track seems to be centered and I think opening up the spatial field for sound (in the mixing) would take this to another level. In parts of the mix the guitar could be more present in the EQ. Drums could be more present. There were a few pitch problems. I would like to hear this with another mix and this one I’m reviewing is good for backing in media however, another mix would be a really nice standalone version. 🙂

Song: Opus for Marionette in F Major

Positive Comments: Those moments before the big moment … your wedding … as you reflect on yourself and your hopes, dreams, desires and longings while standing alone in a cathedral’s hall – just off the main entrance perhaps. This would be a nice musical arrangement played just before the big moment. Oh, the pre-wedding jitters.

Constructive Comments: Musically speaking I think this piece could be enhanced with a few pauses (whole notes) to enhance the phrasing of the story being told. Perhaps a slight cut in the upper frequencies of the strings, not by much. I think the piano could use an adjustment in the EQ for more boldness and not as jarring.

Constructive Comments: Perfect, don’t change anything. Hope you have much success with this piece. Nothing negative to say here. Have a good day.

Positive Comments: This Blues – Rock number is a nice addition to your party playlist on Friday nights. Like the vocalist sings to you … “Rock and Roll all night long!”. A skilled electric guitar sets the backdrop making this cool with college campus students and also likeminded scenes in movies.

Constructive Comments: The jarring way this music recording entered was, well, jarring. Just a few bars to set the environment would have been nice. The drums need some work in the EQ and the vocal channel could have been slightly more present. These are just opinions of a hairy feeted hobbit up in the woods … so don’t mind me, because I’m listening to this song again 🙂

Constructive Comments: The comment police are looking over my shoulder wanting me to put thingamajiggies in this little white box with perhaps negative or constructive comments. I told them to go back to the cyber-donut shop so I could hit the submit button without any negative comments 🙂

Positive Comments: Threshold Moogy Wop is officially starting with this tune! Yep! Threshold Moogy Wop is coming to your town to … well … hmmm … [Blue Tubbie Bear pulls on chord.] … Oh, yeah – it’s time to Threshold Moogy Wop! – I just said that right. [Drops cue card.] Umm… Mrs. Awiggins, can we please get some better scripting here…

Constructive Comments: When I played this the first time through all the way to the end, I thought it was weird. When I do reviews, I listen 2-3 times because reviews are important and should help and not deter the recipient of the review. I listened again, fell into the groove – not so weird. So here on the third time through the musical piece I think this project could open up some in presence and maybe try another rendition using some real instrument samples to give it a whole new dynamic. And just because I said, it was weird, does not make this a bad piece – there are so many styles out in the world and each person, groups of people and artists all over are putting hours upon hours into their creations. I encourage you to continue creating and enjoy this thing we call making music.

Positive Comments: The aerobics class is having a blast, stepping to this musical piece. The spinning class is going for a ride and the cheerleaders on the field are all in-sync as they groove to this tune. A nice energy comes through in this electronic dance song – a nice addition to your cardio workout music library.

Constructive Comments: Just a few notes…that high pitched instrument near the beginning could use a cut in the upper – it actually hurt to hear it … there’s a few spots where either enunciation in the vocals could have been clearer or mic placement. I enjoyed listening to this and grooved to it three times while doing this review. I gave middle marks for arrangement only because I think parts of this musical piece could open up more in the spatial field.

Positive Comments: I liked the intro, nice and short and drew you into the song. You have a great voice and sang the song very well. It sounds very current and i could see it being played ontodays country music stations. You did a great job with the production as well.Very nice song you have here.

Constructive Comments: This section is to give helpful comments to make the song better, and I hate to give tips at this point, because you obviously had a pro do your demo, but I will offer a few tips for your next song to help you in future songs. Whenever i get a review of songs in Nashville, they always say stay away from cliches statements that are overused, say it in a diffrent way. Alot of the lines were lines that have been used in many other songs, nothing new or diffrent, i would work on saying the same thing in a diffrent way. The song is very good, but with less cliches lines it would be awesome. Good work.

Constructive Comments: The lyrics were a little too matchy matchy, and needed a few near rhymes. I think you can take that hook and tighten up the lyrics and have a great song, but it is not there yet.
