Song: Company for Your Soul
Reviewer: Four Day Beard
Positive Comments: The lead vocal delivery is my favorite part of this song. Very unique style. It colors the feeling of the song in a way that makes it interesting and unique. It reminds me of a cross between Leonard Cohen and The National, which are both important artists and two of my favorites. I also enjoy the background vocals and overall vibe of this song. I could imagine this song fitting nicely in a tv or movie montage or transition, opening or ending credits.
Constructive Comments: Reviews and criticism is always a little awkward coming from strangers who have only just heard the song once or twice without knowing the full context of the work. There is not much I would changed about this song, but if I had to pick something, I would say that the pacing and delivery of the lyrics during the chorus seems a little awkward and forced into the space. Simply dropping the word “really” from the line “When all you really need’s some company for your soul” would make it flow more easily without changing the meaning or feel too much. All-in all this is a great song and I wouldn’t really change much about it. well done!
