Song: My Sweet Love ( With Junior Murrell

Reviewer: John Hazlett

Positive Comments: A wonderful sweet song, but with a tiny bit of bittersweet. Has a very gentle, romantic feel to it, but with enough of a beat to keep it interesting. The main vocalist has a soft buttery voice, that is well matched with this song.

Constructive Comments: Just a teeny bit, it’s hard to describe, flat or monotonous. I know it’s a love song, but there’s not a strong chord progression, or climax to give this song that little bit more oomph. Maybe a short change of key near the end.

Positive Comments: I can certainly understand your reasons behind this song. The Day that they Came … very sobering to come to realize what people had to suffer through compared to how easy we have it today. I seriously cannot get enough of your music! Your vocals are always great, but I am totally in love with your style of music and the amount of details you add to give it a truly authentic 80’s and 90’s feel. This song goes high on the list of your best tracks near ‘Film Score Idea’ and ‘Shoot the Breeze.’ Perfect performance as always, Nigel.

Constructive Comments: I wouldn’t even know how to make a suggestion to your music. It’s always so perfect.

Positive Comments: Here we go again, lol. I’m seriously going to review all of your songs eventually! I could hear this in a crime show or something with naturally exciting scenes. I think the title of this song is very appropriate, because Bad Guys usually live exciting lives with robbing banks and whatever it is they do. You’re obviously on a whole different level musically around here, so I automatically expect A+ performances and you have yet to let me down. Keep producing wonderful tracks like this!

Constructive Comments: The song is just right to me. Man I’d love to get your autograph one day perhaps it will happen eventually.

Song: The Secrets Of Life (#1 New Age-Religious)

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: This track shows a lot of hard work and thought that went into it. It asks some good questions that the listener is challenged to answer. Definitely a new age type song and might find a fan base among Unity/Universalist type folks and their belief system. Great job on the bridge – clever way to pull it all together with a question. Track moves along nicely – definitely well-put together from intro to outro…nice work! I love the ending! Very nice mix vocals are clear throughout.

Constructive Comments: The only thing I wasn’t wild about was the percussion at the beginning of the song. It just seemed like an annoying electronic weird click track…but it “disappeared” later on and you seemed to get into a good groove with the song. There’s a lot of guitar string noise, which I find authentic. It might detract from “commercial” appeal, but I liked it. To enhance the track, you might add background vocals on the chorus.I am a Christian and have found answers to “the secrets of life” in the Holy Bible, which I heartily recommend that you read. Jesus helped me to understand the sin problem in our world…which you address in your song. I am glad to know that He forgave me and set me on the right path. I don’t have all the answers but I know the one who holds the key to the Secrets of Life. Again, great song. Mrs Kate

Positive Comments: Beautiful and well-played guitar intro. You tell an interesting story. Sounds like a guy who is married (or partners with) a barmaid or ? who works all night (black dress torn, hair messed up). Great word pictures, even though it ain’t pretty. Through all this, he still loves her. There is an amazing verse in here that merits mention: “Fate is a stupid, one-eyed thing…..” That was amazing lyric writing, Wow! Vocal performance is honest and gritty. I had to listen two times to try and understand the whole picture. This is definitely an ORIGINAL writer…and I hope your following grows. I wish you every success.

Constructive Comments: Work on vocal clarity. That last chord you played was really pretty…what was it? Keep up the great songwriting and performing…you are definitely unique and original.

Positive Comments: Interesting synth-supported track. Kind of a lo-fi jazzy slow track. I like the sax. The lyricist had a unique thing going with the word “despise” and all that he rhymed with it.

Constructive Comments: I wish I could understand what you are singing about. The vocal comes in right off the bat without an intro to get us ready for it….then when the music gets loud, the vocal is lost in the mix. In order to understand this song, I am going to have to READ the lyrics. The track contains some “dead spots” where there is too much waiting for the next thing to happen. I don’t see a conclusion or wrap-up for the song. I am not a jazz aficionado, so take my comments with a grain of salt…but in my folksinger opinion…it’s a song that still needs work.

Positive Comments: Nice melodic cymbalom type sound backed by tinkling piano. There’s a nice wistful and thoughtful quality to this piece, could accompany a county walk film sequence or something like that. Nice shimmering quality throughout.

Constructive Comments: Perhaps a bit more melodic structure, maybe slightly more delicate percussion.

Positive Comments: Quite a manic sound, crazy intro followed by nice piano work. Could be great for the right sort of visual in a film.

Constructive Comments: Track could be longer perhaps, could come back to the chaos after the piano section, and develop more, then return another time to the piano section, but this time a bit more fleshed out. Piece could go to two minutes at least.
