Positive Comments: Here’s a pretty scathing biography song of a big fake. The lyrics are biting and merciless as they describe the Pretender Man. It’s revealing it’s a warning, and very well written and performed. You get an “A” for originality. Song structure is tight…great bridge. The word pictures in this song are phenomenal “diamond he won in Vegas” “Bottom of the deck he deals an ace” “caravan parked outside of town half a mile” “silver smile”.
Constructive Comments: I wondered…who is the writer writing about? At first I thought “just somebody he knows who’s a fake”. Then I wondered, is he writing about his dad? Then at the end with the mirror, was he writing about himself? Then it becomes a very self-revealing song! You’ll have to fill me in. Another question: Did you use a rhyming dictionary as you wrote this song? Anyway: suggestions for improvement. Work on vocal clarity and enunciation so that the listener can pick up every word. Shorten the introduction. Improve the instrumentation. Guitar sounded kind of “lo-fi”. Song could be shorter…
