Broadjam Artist: Sam Cooper
Song: 28 DAYS IN TUSCON (Trent Jeffcoat-vocal)
Reviewer: Vicki Lee
Positive Comments: This songs succeeds in painting a picture of a hopeless alcoholic. The story is believable with vivid references to the sensations felt by an addict. The song structure is concise and flows from verse to chorus very well. The instrumentation is appropriate with a good beat and will get them up on the dance floor. References to the 12-step program and the 28 day cure leave no doubt in the listener’s mind, as to the problem. A good bar song.
Constructive Comments: Some lyrics, however, seem disconnected. Lines about liking women who live in cheap motels makes the guy out to also be a loser. I would prefer lyrics that give him more status. He might be hopeless, but can’t he also be a functioning alcoholic with redeeming qualities? One question to ask is, what artist would want to sing this song? Although solid, no instruments stand out, so your mix might be tweaked. Good luck!
