Song: A Storm Outside My Window

Reviewer: Mike Scieszinski

Positive Comments: A lavish sound palette used here! I like the male vocalist’s timbre!

Constructive Comments: This song is completely derivative. It seems like it is pandering pretty hard. I’d like to see this artist take some more time with the lyrics and make me believe them.

Positive Comments: Great resolution between sections! Love the constistant pushing and driving beat! Killer guitar work, really good sounds.

Constructive Comments: I don’t hear much happening in the bass lines, it would be nice to have some more bass in the mix and to hear it driving the bus from time to time.

Positive Comments: Very modern classical sound with some interesting changes. The staccato intro and outro set it apart.

Constructive Comments: I’d cut the intro in half to introduce other instruments quickly, to get the attention of a music supervisor.

Song: Sand Castles

Positive Comments: Very solid sound with some nice dynamics. I really enjoyed the chord progression.

Constructive Comments: Even as a professional drummer, I felt the drums were maybe 4-5db too hot (particularly the snare). I’d cut that down and raise the bass drum kick by nearly as much for more punch.

Song: Dry Run

Positive Comments: Country flair but still kind of folk rock. Overall very good sound.

Constructive Comments: For me, the vocals are too far up-front by 3-4db, which makes the 2-part male/female harmonies sound a bit weaker. Adding a 3rd harmony would be beneficial. It takes just the right song to make 2-part work perfectly.

Positive Comments: Well-written song with a lot of nice instrumentation. The hook is easily recognized and the melody is very effective. Very 90s Country throwback sound.

Constructive Comments: I think a younger-sounding voice would bring this new life.
