Positive Comments: So I like the concept of the song here. The vocal performance is really good, the recording quality of the vocals seems pretty good as well. I like the piano playing and the way it interplays with the vocals. Lyrically it’s the type of song I could hear on the radio. It’s very Bruno Mars in my opinion. Could be very marketable.
Constructive Comments: To me the quality of the piano recording seems off. The Vocals seem really detached from the piano performance. It doesn’t sound like they’re in a room together playing a song (Which is usually never the case in a recording environment, but usually it sounds like they are.) It really took me out of the experience because everything there performance wise is really good, it just needs a more cohesive mix that makes it sound like the vocals and piano are there together because that’s all that’s in the song. Keep up the great work. Really great writing here.

Song: Every Time You’re Near

Positive Comments: This is a pretty solid recording. The vocals sound really good and clear. The guitars really support the vocals and give the song a lot of dynamics as well. The drums are right in the pocket and really supporting the whole song. I liked the guitar effect used on the little solo break. Really great work on this song.
Constructive Comments: These are very picky notes. There were times I felt like the bass could have done a little bit more that what it was doing. From what I could tell it was mostly just playing root notes most of the time. It had a little bit to do during that solo break but that was all I noticed. I felt like there was room in the chorus, particularly the last one for some additional vocals, like a call and response portion. If you ever considered having a female vocalist as back up it would be a great spot for them to shine. I did that for a couple of my songs and a lot of people really enjoyed it.

Positive Comments: This is a pretty solid recording. The drum loop is really cool and leaves a lot of room for the guitars to play some really cool parts, which they do. The guitar playing is really solid. It initially gave me ‘One Headlight’ vibes but it deviated from that pretty quickly, I liked the different guitar tones in use as well. It could potentially get used a soundtrack for a movie.
Constructive Comments: About 2 minutes in a real twangy guitar comes in. Sometimes it didn’t sound like it was perfectly on pitch. A lot of the other guitars on the track sounded really good and in pitch pretty much the entire time, but that one twangy guitar sounded like it was off sometimes. It could have been an effect you had on it. The Twangy guitar also sounded the most out of place in the track, where as most of the guitars really fit with what was happening with the rest of the track. These are just my opinions, you have a really solid track here that could probably get placements. Keep up the good work.

Song: Same New Song

Positive Comments: Really solid song here. Musical performances all around are really solid, It sounds like the drums are programmed but they still sound pretty good on this recording, the bass also sounds good, which not something I can say about a lot of recordings I hear on here. The lyrics are good, I like the lyrics a lot. the play on “Same old Song” is really cool. It’s the perfect length and has a lot of potential.
Constructive Comments: I would say the weakest part of this recording is the vocal performance. Its really hard to pick this recording apart because it is pretty solid, but the vocals left a lot to be desired. The singer has a really good voice, but I didn’t really feel any energy in the performance. I have also had this problem when recording. When I play songs live I have a lot of energy and emotion, but when recording a lot of times you’re alone in a booth or in a room working on the song. Sometimes the emotion or energy of the performance can get lost. If you’re happy with your vocal performance though, I would say stick with what you have, I’m just picking up on things that I’m noticing. Keep up the good work with these recordings!

Song: All Is Not Lost (Kleinhans/Dunkle)

Positive Comments: This song has a very dark vibe to it which could make it really great for sync. I like the use of the bell sounding pads that the song is built around. The lyrics are very moody, dark, and vulnerable. There’s potential for this song for sure. It’s a solid idea and if you plan on recording this song professionally you should do so.
Constructive Comments: This song sounds like it was self recorded. The quality of the vocal recording is pretty weak. The vocals by itself is fine, but there’s no good EQ on it, and for a song like this some sort of effects on it would probably help a lot. While I did like the bell sounding pads, they definitely should be mixed so they aren’t so harsh sounding to the ears. I also felt like the bells drowned out the drums. I think if this song was taken to a professional studio, you could export the midi notes, give them to the engineer, and he could probably find something close to what you had and get you a better sounding sample without taking away from the vibe of this song. The Vocal recording could probably be reused, but I always recommending tracking vocals with a professional who’s gonna help you get the best possible performance. If you want people to hear and support this music, you want the best possible recordings. Good luck!

Song: Stary Night on the Lake

Positive Comments: I think the piano melody is solid, I like how it changed samples about halfway through, it helped change the vibe. The instrumentation choices here are really well done. It sounds like it could be on a soundtrack to a show or movie. It has a nice build to it with a very uplifting and hopeful tone. Just needs a better recording.
Constructive Comments: The recording quality of this is really poor. To the point where I can’t tell if someone actually played the piano or just built the performance on a midi chart. If it was performed there is too much quantization on the piano notes to where it sounds mechanical and not organic. There were times where it sounded fine, but particularly in the beginning it felt off to me. I would love to listen to this if it was professionally recorded live performance of the piano. It could sound huge. Overall a great concept here.

Constructive Comments: I liked the arrangement. It had my foot tapping and making up lyrics and melodies on the spot as thats what I do. This reminds me of my bands giving me music and me giving it vocals and lyrics.

Constructive Comments: I wouldnt label this hard rock. Its more in the vein of country or southern rock. Lyrics were cool. Nice danceable riffs and arrangement. Nice song.

Constructive Comments: The song was all over the place. The hook or chorus was hard to determine. ONE WAY STREET or DON’T THEY KNOW? The arrangement needs worked over and the song itself could be edited to solidifyhelp the mind follow the progression of the tune.
