Song: REIGN
Reviewer: John Walradt
Positive Comments: The heavy lumbering, impending metal guitar sets the ominous tone of a song that means business! Lyrically clever, it begins with the play on words, “For hundreds of years, it’s been reigning men,” and puts forth a womandate, as opposed to mandate! Vocals are superb: smooth but with grit in the right places. This is Pat Benatar meets Judas Priest. It is mixed well with softened background vocals and panning of guitars.
Constructive Comments: Broadjam doesn’t really give a selection for melody so I usually pick between the hook and arrangement. The tune, or hook, is not readily memorable. I would not immediately be able to remember the tune to hum it or sing it. It’s an album cut rather than a single. But make no mistake, it’s marketable because there are specialized videos and ads that want an empowerment theme. The arranged notes of various instruments and background vocals that compliment the tune are placed well. Oh, I have to say I really like the line, “This country is more than fathers and sons.” The theme of angry/insistent feminism, and for very good reasons, has been told for decades, but it doesn’t hurt to re-tell the story. The feminist movement has been the most important movement of all time. It has grown to be inclusive in that it embraces that all persons have the right to a happy, fulfilling life, with equal respect, free of prejudices, veiled social rules, and mind games.

Song: Rampin’ Up
Reviewer: Original Quigley
Positive Comments: I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I heard the intro…I was desperately hoping it was going to be female vocals so I wasn’t disappointed! This is a very cleverly written and performed song with a lovely vibe and feel and also feels very authentic in terms of the story. What a beautiful voice too…a very impressive range which is on show at certain points. The high notes are pitch perfect! This track reminds of what would have happened if Stevie Nicks had tried to do ‘modern’ country-although this is not a Stevie Nicks’ version of your song…more that I could hear her singing it! I particularly loved the backing vocals in the chorus…very effective and adds a warm and reassuring tone to the song. Love this!
Constructive Comments: My only real comment would be that I’m not entirely sure what “Rampin’ up” means! Maybe that’s because I’m from Scotland and we don’t ramp up! I’m saying that tongue in cheek because obviously, I know what it is meaning (having lived in North America for 3 years) but I do wonder if internationally, the term might not necessarily be fully understood. However, this does not remotely take away from a very high quality track and more that I need to write something in this section!

Song: Breaking a Butterfly
Reviewer: Simpson-Mancine Productions
Positive Comments: There’s a lot of authentic 90s grunge and punk influence here that shine through. Though the mix is a bit rough, the arrangement is good and the turnaround/hook really works to put it in that 90s feel.
Constructive Comments: The recording/mix is extremely raw here and with the small-room dynamics on the drums it is easy for them to run away in the mix. I think pushing the guitars and especially vocal up front with less reverb would help balance the drums and give it a more authentic 90s grunge feel.

Song: Somethin’ Smokey
Reviewer: Simpson-Mancine Productions
Positive Comments: Has a solid groove, nice use of the stereo panning/transitions in the mix, good sub-harmonics, and a nice blend of higher frequency flute/synth patches that work well.Wicked nice key/synth break that takes it to an unexpected ending.
Constructive Comments: Liked this, and overall a decent mix!Think a bit of mastering eq/comp could afd a bit of “air” into it.Guessing the crackly sound in there is some sort of “vinylizer” effect… if so, I would suggest pushing the high EQ level a bit to make it sound more intentional and obvious. Those FX are good, but they need to be somewhat up-front or they start to sound like noise/clipping.

Song: DarkEpicTheatrical
Reviewer: Simpson-Mancine Productions
Positive Comments: From a composition/arrangement standpoint, I really liked the juxtaposition of the classic main melody with the ascending strings and the shift from a 4/4 feel to a slow 6/8 as a result. It is very effective and seems to fit well with modern trailer/opening credit sequences.
Constructive Comments: I feel like the production and instrumentation quality is holding this back from sounding stronger and having the greatest impact. Higher quality MIDI instruments and a proper audio mix could really elevate this and let it shine.
