Song: I’m Your Answer

Positive Comments: This song is very, very catchy and possibly even more importantly it’s contemporary. Strong melody and chord progression. The vocal performance is outstanding. I like the vocal arrangement with the use of the falsetto over the standard voice. Great recording. The song is stronger than many chart hits.

Constructive Comments: Two quick points. I think the short bridge at 1.50 could be slightly stronger. Although the instrumentation and arrangement are very good, personally I would have liked a more daring approach and I would have liked the song to have built to a crescendo towards the end of the song to leave the listener with a real impact. That said, it’s a very professional piece of work.

Positive Comments: This is really beautiful. The guitar work is superb. I like the way you added an acoustic guitar at 1.08, a second lead guitar at 1.48 and how you have changed the guitar patch at 2.10, all of which adds interest for the listener. Tasteful rhythm section which really complements the lead guitar. Nicely recorded.

Constructive Comments: Although the tune has a retro feel, I’ve given it a 4 marking for market potential on the basis that it might work for some TV/film opportunities. For that purpose it might be worth making some shorter edits for that purpose.

Positive Comments: The lyrics idea is great and very original. I really like the acoustic guitar and percussion arrangement. Good vocal performance. The song is catchy. The chord sequence is effective. I love the chord change and change of direction at 4.15, which gives the song a dreamy ending. Nicely recorded.

Constructive Comments: Although I understand why you’ve added the electronic effects at the beginning and end of the song, personally I think they’re superfluous. As I’ve stated above I really like the lyric idea, however I think the repetition of ‘sweet voice tonight’ in line three of the chorus, when it occurs in the second line is slightly repetitive and for that reason I’ve marked down the lyrics a notch. One last thought, I think there is room in the choruses for ad libs or ‘reply’ vocal lines just to off-set some of those long syllables. Overall I really like the song, but feel it would be even better with a few tweaks.

Positive Comments: New live tracks is always great to hear. Horn lines are superb. The arrangement keeps me into it. Very interesting and fun song with lots of cool horn stabs and melodic passages. Great job on the mix, everything is clear and the treatments are just right!! Really full arrangement.. great horn blends.

Constructive Comments: Song is very reminiscent to many soul and R&B horn infused music from the 60s and 70s. The genre doesn’t feel like fusion to me. Maybe too much reverb on the guitar… organ under mixed… percussion too low but overall this is a great mix on a tough song.

Positive Comments: Very fresh sounds. Song builds well. Track is easy to listen to, can definitely get into dancing to this. Great old school elements with a new sound. I like the introduction of new sounds in the second verse… and how the synth pans from side to side, very good ear candy. The synth sounds are all very pleasing. Sound effects are in a good spot, all the ingredient for a hit!

Constructive Comments: Nothing for me to add… the mix is happening and the energy is great!! Maybe there could have been a breakdown with just drums, percussion and vocal somewhere in the middle.
