Song: Merry Go Round (demo)

Reviewer: Simpson-Mancine Band

Positive Comments: It is like Procul Harum meets The Beatles… a fun tune! Great vocal performance. And nice tasteful guitar solo into that key change before the last verse

Constructive Comments: I would love to hear the vocals a bit “drier” and up-front in the mix. The drums seem to carry a lot of room sound, which gives it a “live” feel but also lowers the perception of recording quality (always a fine line!)Nice work!

Positive Comments: Nice clean guitar parts, fantastic bass line, nice vocal harmony structure. Nice song!

Constructive Comments: Drums seem to feel a bit too “stiff” compared to the feel of the song…maybe just a limitation of the production. Would love to hear the vocal tracks a bit more balanced and blended into the same “space” as the guitars and drums.

Positive Comments: Really cool idea, I really dig all of the references in the lyrics.

Constructive Comments: While I love the lo-fi vocal track, I kept waiting for it to break out into full EQ somewhere in the song… even briefly, it would provide a moment of “power” that may break up and contrast with the rest of the song.

Positive Comments: I really dig the Stones-esque vibe here, and the “ready as Ill ever be” theme. Very nice instrumentation, especially the rhythm section.

Constructive Comments: Would love to hear this with a better production quality, especially getting that solid lead vocal part a bit more “up front” in the mix and blended a bit more smoothly with those nice backing vocals.

Positive Comments: Like the break/hook “next stop, Oblivion”. I also like the saxaphone and keyboard interplay during the solo.

Constructive Comments: The recording quality may not be doing the overall performance justice here… this could work better with stronger production. While the Jethro Tull influence is received and appreciated, the intro may be a bit too close for comfort as far as chords/structure. Perhaps a slight reworking to make it an original “homage” would serve the song better.

Positive Comments: Your voice has a wonderful warmth. Grabbed my attention right away from the start. The backing track feels like it’s in half time. I love the weight of the composition. You did a wonderful job composing an underscore that compliments the melody and feel of the lyrics and melody. Wonderful subtle panning — god mix! Lyrics are relatable and meaningful. good balance of emotion that isn’t too personal (I struggle with this so much)

Constructive Comments: I say this every review, do not be afraid to use pitch correction. It would tighten up the vocals for this to be from good to AMAZING. Everyone uses post, even Buble’ It’s 2020, very few have the talent of Charlie Puth, nothing to feel bad about it. It’s quite repetitive. This is only an issue for me because of the length. Nothing new is added until 40 seconds in. I was wanting that by 12 seconds or so. It feels like a radio-ready hit that was forcibly stretched to hit the 4,30 mark. I stopped listening with my heart and was just waiting for it to be done at one point. “less is more” My criticism aside it truly is a great piece. Wonderful work! <3

Positive Comments: I loved all of it. The guitar/synth play is really good. I just wanted to play it again, thanks to the different moods and atmospheres. Really enoyed this moment, this escape. Can hear this track in a documentary, easily!

Constructive Comments: To me, some noise effects like sweep sounds are may be to much. The fullness of the entire track is self sufficient. Or just lower them down a bit in the mix. Otherwise, loved it!

Positive Comments: I was in the mood to review an ambient track, and I was positively surprised to hear lyrics. The vocals are strong, love the tone. Until the end you managed to build up the entire piece to an interesting hook.

Constructive Comments: The only thing that I didnt like is personal, the sweep / phaser effect on the pads is a bit too stronf, and too often. Would be nicer if suggested, in a subtil way. Otherwise excellent work!

Positive Comments: Minimalist arrangement, but very expressive and has a nice depth as a background for film/TV. Really pleasant sound and solid attention to volume dynamics as well. Excellent piece.

Constructive Comments: If anything a few more instruments would round out the sound completely, but I enjoyed it thoroughly.
