Song: And When You Say I Love You / Country

Reviewer: Mary & James

Positive Comments: I think the instrumentation takes some interesting turns and keeps the listener tuned in. I can hear this used in sync licensing opportunities. The musicianship sounds very good. It is an interesting combination of instrumentation.

Constructive Comments: The mix could be tighter. Sometimes the tracks seem to get off beat with each other. I am not sure the chosen genre is the best identifier for this song. The instrumentation does not really support a contemporary country sound.

Positive Comments: Wonderful tune. Would make a great background for TV or movie placements, not to mention corporate pieces, mostly because you didn’t add a vocal , (which I kept expecting to pop up any second.) Very tasty piano. The guitar and piano blended so well together it was hard to tell them apart. (Maybe that was a guitar patch on the keyboards?)

Constructive Comments: Drums just a hair too upfront. I’m not sure I would place this in a smooth jazz category. It has some of that feel, but add a vocal line and this is a good pop tune. The only real negative is the same with every instrumental tune – picking a title.

Positive Comments: Sweet song. I LOVE it when you slow down the delivery of “Things Have Changed.” Really pulls the listener back into the song. The sax in the background is perfect, not overbearing or in the way of the vocal. Good luck pitching the tune. It really has potential to chart IMHO.

Constructive Comments: I would have loved to hear the bass upfront in the mix a bit more. also I think the song started to feel a bit repetitious. to avoid that you could add an 8 bar bridge that took the song somewhere else. Maybe a short solo? If you do you may consider dropping one verse.

Song: Down Home (Instrumental)

Reviewer: Mary & James

Positive Comments: I can definitely hear this track in a sync licensing opportunity. The instrumentation is very good and I like how the different instruments are highlighted throughout the track. Would be perfect for a remake of Petticoat Junction. I can also hear this as a dance song at a Gilley’s. The dancers would love it. Other than some decent guitar riffs– a hook didn’t really catch my ear.

Constructive Comments: I think a bridge could help and bring it to an even higher level of interest. It would be fun to write some lyrics to as well– this coming from a person who loves words– so take it at face value.

Song: Wish You Could Smile Coreys

Positive Comments: Where do I begin? Well first off the keyboards were spot on loved the playing. The vocals were not the strongest however fit the song and the arrangement nicely. The instrumentation was just a piano but very well played. The arrangement was good as well. Lyrically very meaningful

Constructive Comments: Stronger vocals would help obviously a more robust arrangement would also strengthen the song, however that being said I thought the song was a very nice effort and has some good potential.

Positive Comments: The percussion and bass are really locked into a groove that keeps this moving and when they drop out later in the song it made me sit right up and get reengaged. The recording quality was excellent. The wide timbre of the instrumentation was a great professional choice.

Constructive Comments: The only thing I can fault (and it might just be my preference and have nothing to do with what a pro would think) is: I would have like to hear an instrument carry a melody line, rather than a percussive suggestion of one.
