Song: Shoot The Breeze

Positive Comments: I really like the song and the melody of the lead, it carries some good emotion and all instruments are well played, good recording.

Constructive Comments: The only thing is this: Its hard to feature keyboard instruments unless you have some high end gear that has indistinguishable simulations. The horn sounds on average keyboards always sounds a little fake. I use them but only as background accents. I try not to feature any instruments that aren’t actually real. So I would almost say that this might be better if you just used a piano or Rhodes type of sound. Or even a synthesizer sound, I could hear this with a Dire straights type of synth sound. Its a good song, I’m just not sold on keyboard sax sound, .,

Song: Take Me To An Island NEW FLUTE & SAX MIX

Reviewer: Barry Osbourn

Positive Comments: I really like the music to this, great performances or production on the music arrangement.

Constructive Comments: I rarely say this, But I think I would like this better as an instrumental, it would be great background music with wonderful sax and an airy floating texture. I’m just not sold on the vocal performance or the lyrics, sorry. They don’t really have a melody to them, Maybe they could be redone if you wrote a melody for the vocal to follow, but as is they’re almost spoken word. anyway, its wonderful music and the recording is done well.

Positive Comments: Very interesting song, I love all the sounds and arrangement, nice use of modern beats and bluesy riffs. its pretty creative.

Constructive Comments: The one thing that bugs me a bit is just the mix, seems like some sounds are too loud and others not loud enough, it just doesn’t feel fully flushed out, some sounds might need a little verb to set them into the mix, and then the whole thing needs to be mastered to compress it all together.

Positive Comments: Its a good song, and the vocal performance is really good, I have a few issues with it but I think its worth pursuing to a better end

Constructive Comments: First , I’m not sure it belongs in Blues? maybe RnB or Folk, with the ethnic flute and lack of any real blues structure it just seems like a “bluesy” RnB song. But not really blues itself. The other thing is the whole recording and mix. Its not horrible but could be better, The bass really sticks out and the other instruments get buried, Maybe remix it with louder drums and some mastering of the whole thing to tighten it up But like I said I think the vocals are actually quite good.

Positive Comments: Right up my alley! Nice and slick. Loved the drum rhythm track inparticular. reminded me of so many jazz artists.

Constructive Comments: None to add – although a little change up in the rhythm track would add listener interest instead of being uniform all the way through (more or less).
