Positive Comments: Bright, cheerful singalong. Strong rhythm. Accurately sung both by the lead singer and the children’s chorus. Pleasant harmonica. A touch of springtime.

Constructive Comments: A pleasant listen. Slight distortions at times – maybe reduce the levels slightly to avoid peaking?

Song: Oh’ Darlin (cover w/ Courtney Blacklock

Positive Comments: Sensitive version of the Lennon/McCartney classic. Restrained, accurate vocal – sometimes sweet, sometimes almost operatic. Clean, unfussy guitar breaks.

Constructive Comments: Occasional slight pops and distortions on the vocal – maybe re-record with a more screened mike, or ask the singer to stand a little further back? But she’s a pleasure to listen to.

Positive Comments: This song has a very cool vibe , somewhere between Mose Allison and Tom Waits, gruff vocals inclusive. Elements of 1960’s cool blues mixed and psychedelia, very cool.

Constructive Comments: Constructive criticism, you may be overusing the flute a bit, sounds appropriate to the style, just might want to pull back on verses. Drums might be tad static in spots, yin/yang about the horn sounds, they are kind of cheesy, so better horns might give it more polish. Overall though I like this a lot, the vibe, lyrics, total package is very cool.

Sasweetie Music

Broadjam Artist: Sasweetie Music
Song: KW Ballard

Reviewer: Baba Shakka

Positive Comments: I could hear Kenny Latimore, Toni Braxton, or Jesse Powell on this track. This could be a great comeback hit for a seasoned artist- but stylistically dated- so finding new vocal artists that can work it can be a challenge… unless they are instrumentalists. I know a violinist that went viral playing on cover tracks… There is a sultry layer to this style that welcomes ‘ugly faced riffs’… and in that regard- making bigger cues for the climatic moments… It forces the soloist out of the pocket… this piece is doing what its suppose to do.

Constructive Comments: This production style is the catalyst to a very classy project. Those artists who could stand a revival (Howard Hewitt, Tony Rich, and even Joe Little from The Rude Boys) are accessible enough to make this work… so keep an open mind outside the studio mindset in terms of your network and it’s potential.
