Positive Comments: I like how the sound of the harmonica plays into the sonic aspect of the mix. The music has a nice bluesy feel and the concept of ‘these shoes’ has a mysterious factor that’s enticing and gets me wondering what is it so special about these shoes? These red ruby slippers.

Constructive Comments: I think that if there was some added focus to the overall clarity of sound for both instrumental and vocal this record could make it a bit further with just some simple changes of maybe adding presence in master eq. Just my thought, I could be wrong, though also would be nice I feel like, to hear the instruments flow more melodically with some more togetherness.

Positive Comments: What stood out to me and had me imagining the potential for this song becoming a rock classic was the introduction and how that chord progression was played on the guitar. I think the progression and the sounds really have some potential if the vocal had more syllables in the lyrics and maybe some more energy.

Constructive Comments: I was wanting to hear an energetic power vocal similar to that of Brian Johnson and the like. I think that’s what would be the most effective thing if there was anything to be changed about this song to bring it to a level of familiarity that with most people would register after just a couple of times hearing it!

Positive Comments: I definitely enjoyed the fact of how unconventional the sounds were in this song, the instruments really standing out from one another with their sounds and of course the timing of the notes that were played by those instruments. The vibe kind of reminded me of the intro song in the tv series called South Park 🙂

Constructive Comments: As different and / or expiremental as this track sounds I think that upping the element of togetherness in regards to how the instruments are played would bring up the market potential for this song. Of course there are people out there who will absolutely love this sound and who would buy it, there probably just aren’t a whole lot 🙂

Positive Comments: The acoustic guitar is nicely done and lays well in the mix. The song has some commercial potential, perhaps as source music in a movie or TV production. The electric guitar solo is very effective and not derivative of any particular performer. The mood of the song is dark. The lyrics offer a stern warning to listeners, particularly Americans. I’d like to hear more of this lyrical honesty utilized by other artists.

Constructive Comments: The vocal is a bit “pitchy”. Much of this could be corrected by singing with less “force”. The female harmony vocal sounds a tad out-of-place dated, perhaps as it’s performed almost three octaves over the male lead. When she sings harmony within range of the male lead, the vocal is highly effective. I think bringing the female harmony vocal down one octave (if possible), adding a third interval to the harmony, and singing the lead with a bit less force would definitely improve the song. Again, this opinion may be due to my own personal taste. Nice work overall.

Positive Comments: I like the tempo and mood generated by this song. It makes me feel as if I am walking home at sunset lost in thought. Perhaps collecting memories of friendships and persons who mean a great deal. The instrumentation is unique and this provides something to grab onto. I can hear a definite use of acoustic and electric guitars.

Constructive Comments: The song needs some space in the mix. The instruments are all playing similar pitches and tones. I would suggest removing the continuous legato style fiddle (keyboard sample if I’m hearing that right) to provide some space within the mix. The song morphs into a sort of bridge at 4:00. This is a nice touch, but again, I think some space, i.e., letting certain instruments layout at times would definitely help improve the mix. This is perhaps my own personal taste, but again, the song could benefit from “space” within the composition.

Positive Comments: When I heard those chords start off with the pad it got me in touch with my R&B side a bit, I did enjoy the instrumentation for the most part, the simplicity was refreshing and it is definitely a catchy chorus when the ‘beating heart’ lyrics begin to repeat. I feel like it is memorable and if you get a lot of people to listen they will be repeating those lyrics!

Constructive Comments: The instrumentation sounds kinda funky and fresh for the most part though if I have anything constructive to say about this track it is probably that what stood out to me the most as far as something that needs to be improved is the way that the pad fits into the mix, I think it could be a little bit quieter and possibly panned more in a stereo mix left and right.

Positive Comments: The vocal rasp makes me feel like the connection being made here between the instruments, the notes they are playing to the feelings they invoke really brings the momentum of this track to sonic equilibrium and exemplifies the way that the vocal rasp and tone delivers the emotion being projected through the singers voice!

Constructive Comments: I love the song although the volumes of the guitar track in relation to the vocal seem just a bit out of touch with one another maybe if the guitar was a little bit louder and vocal slightly quieter it would match up better than it does now. That’s my opinion anyhow hope it’s accurate and only encouraging! Other than that the music is inspiring!
