Positive Comments: Nice catchy and inviting groove. Heart felt and natural lyrics. Really like the hook. Certainly the best part of the song. Interesting idea to bring the flute sounds in. That component could be developed more. The general vibe and vibe sticks in my head.

Constructive Comments: On some level you seem content to just jam on top of a two or three chord groove — the solo guitar never ends. It mostly works to reinforce the somewhat hypnotic groove — and keep it real. However there are so many performance errors that it begins to detract from that groove. Best to solo all the way through 4 or 5 times, then keep the best bits. Definitely has potential.

Positive Comments: So much to like about this. So much going on — instrumentally, lyrically, and in the arrangement. I love the cynical irony of the lyrics. Very rich on so many levels. I love the looseness and live-ness of the performance. Sounds like Smoking Joe? Love the outro vibe.

Constructive Comments: The track seems to be lacking some mid-range energy. Strong on the top and bottom but hollowed out in the middle. More attention to the stereo image would help clarity and separation in places.

Almost Close / Rock & Roll by Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Song: Almost Close / Rock & Roll

Positive Comments: Nice catchy groove with some very cool changes. Reminds me a bit of mid-sixties surf music (eg. The Ventures). Nice positive vibe.

Constructive Comments: There is a strange artifact that pervades the music. I can hear it especially on the hi-hat cymbal. It’s a sort of swishy muffled sound. It could a compression issue. Not sure. If you get to the bottom of that you will have a clearer, less distracting, and more inviting sound. Good luck! P.S. Check out Slate Digital for a very inexpensive and extremely high quality route to getting excellent sound.
