Come Out Tonight Girl / Rock & Roll by Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Song: Come Out Tonight Girl / Rock & Roll

Reviewer: Nigel Barrett

Positive Comments: The tune instantly starts driving and has a commercial flare to it. Enjoyed the arrangement and the vocal harmonies. Reminded me of a mix between Tom Petty and Take That.

Constructive Comments: Low score from me for the hook but only because I could hear the tune going elsewhere with varying chords during the chorus rather than repeating the same chords.

Positive Comments: Tremendous talent behind this tune with incredible playing. Bravo!

Constructive Comments: Just had to take one mark off my top score as for me that repetitive ‘C’ spoiled it slightly – I know it’s jazz and that’s how it’s meant to be – call me ignorant! Otherwise it was immensely impressive!

Positive Comments: I like the into , it had a nice sound to it. It’s a good start, needs a few tweaks to be radio ready. I enjoyed listening to it.

Constructive Comments: There were a few spots where the vocals were strained and pitchy. I think it needs a professional recording to pitch, this seems to be just a demo.

Positive Comments: Loved the duet! Fun song for a guy and girl to sing. Spot on Chicago blues (I come from Chicago….). The production, arrangement and instrumentation is great. The singers have a fun, playful and frisky, coy vibe to their delivery (and maybe could have gone a little further with this). Very nice and clean slide work and the harp part was cool and subdude…..fine job, folks.

Constructive Comments: Mind you, these thoughts are meant to help make this a better song. The theme and idea of the song is fabulous, I just think the lyrics are lacking visual impact that is unique. I was hoping to get more visual info about the “dirtiness” of “daddy and Mamma”….and, mind you, this gives you a chance to REALLY have some fun with the sights, sounds, smells and places that define who “mamma and daddy” are …and go to.You folks are really onto something here and this song could be a classic with more massaging of the lyrical content….. just a thought.I was sitting with Kris Kristofferson one day and I asked him how he wrote, “Me and Bobbie McGee” and he gave me a fabulous response. He said, I wrote about 20 verses and 4-5 chorus and edited all the info down to the final song. That might apply here….

Positive Comments: Solid rocking blues tune, great band, Stevie meets Delbert, no worries.I could see this in a film with Michael Pare or Patrick Swayze.

Constructive Comments: No issues with musicianship or performances, it’s really quite good, recording sounds a little dated, maybe a tad generic in concept. Really nice performances all round though.

Song: Take A Black Eye For Love / Hard Rock

Reviewer: max quaini

Positive Comments: not sure why I found this tune under hard rock, it’s more a pop rock song IMO, btw, I guess it’s a live recording using a looper? the progression is interesting, great guitar playing, nice stuff!

Constructive Comments: as mentioned before I guess you are playing live with a looper, is that right? in that case cannot complain! apart this the chorus is nice when there’s just one guitar going on but once you start adding phrases chorus tend to be “too much”. Anyway it’s a very nice job, despite the quality of recoding is not the best one, but I guess it’s just a matter of live playing. Not sure if I am wrong or not, that’s the sensation, keep rocking, all the best!sincerelyMax

Positive Comments: The guitar delay is wicked! Very nice instrumental. Makes me feel about driving on an empty highway with the head in the wind!

Constructive Comments: Not much to say. I am missing a melody or mayby a voice that sings on top of that wonderful backing track. The end is a bit abrupt.
