Positive Comments: I’m glad that you left this simple. I think you have a glorious voice and I love the lyric. Your gift of melody is strong too. I love that you left it under-produced because the voice stands up for itself and there’s an honesty I enjoy that appears to be rare these days. Great stuff.

Constructive Comments: You’re spot on. Great.

Positive Comments: I think you have a fantastic voice. The song reminds me of Vashti Bunyan or Victoria Williams and I enjoyed the hesitation in the vocal as well as the quality of the voice. This is a good length for the track.

Constructive Comments: I would have loved to hear the song finish before the spoken section just for the kookiness of it. Nice choice of instruments. And when the voice does come back in after the spoken bit it’s pretty enjoyable anyway.

Great stuff and this is a fun hook. Take a listen to Truckstop Honeymoon – you’ll appreciate the humour. This is cool!

Constructive Comments: I wanna be friends with you. You’re obviously a lot of fun. Plus you’re a very fun songwriter. That applause, mind…it’s a bit polite for an American audience isn’t it?! Just adds to the humour of the track. x

If I’d Take My Turn by Jeff Ashbaker

Jeff Ashbaker

Broadjam Artist: Jeff Ashbaker
Song: If I’d Take My Turn

Reviewer: Kirsty McGee

Positive Comments: I like the major to minor you’re doing a lot as it takes the song from a straight melody to something more interesting & the voice is great. The backing vocals are working well too. The switch from violin to electric guitar voicing is great. The minor thing is actually quite addictive! Reminds me a little of Guy Clark.

Constructive Comments: This is a nice length and a commercial radio-friendly song and the production sounds well thought out to me. I enjoyed listening and whilst this is not the kind of song I normally listen to, if it came on the radio I’d be intrigued because of the major-minor twist you’re working with. Nice work!
