Positive Comments: This is hard rock that swings! Excellent vocalist and instrumental players. Good harmonies. This is like the best 80’s hard rock bands.

Constructive Comments: This doesn’t quite feel glued together yet. The drums sound like the mic was 2 feet away, the guitar 20 feet away, the bass is a dark rumble, and the vocals are conversationally dry. So a bit of delay added to the vocals, bring the kick up a tad, get the bass cleaner and tighter to the kick AC/DC style, a bit less distortion on the guitar and pan it hard to one side with reverb aimed hard to the other side. Or something like that.Definitely I think the drums need to play a straighter kick/snare pattern so that the groove doesn’t stutter. This is a kick ass tune that’s worth the next round of work to get it right.

King of the Hill by Signal 30

Signal 30

Broadjam Artist: Signal 30
Song: King of the Hill

Reviewer: Jeff Roberts

Positive Comments: There’s a very good song here and a passionate & convincing vocal performance in the Tom Waits vein.

Constructive Comments: Very murky recording here. The vocals are the most important thing in the tune–I’d remove some of the reverb on the vocal and get the mic closer so the presence is bigger. But not too close –you do want that “in the bar” vibe. Remove the electric guitar parts that are cluttering things up. Same with tinkly piano riffs that don’t jibe with the tune. Sounds like you’re a lyricist and vocalist with a good song and minimal skill on the other instruments and production. And that’s OK –maybe reach out for some collaboration.
