My Eye Candy Blonde / Rock & Roll by Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Song: My Eye Candy Blonde / Rock & Roll

Reviewer: Randal Dunkle

Positive Comments: I like the how the guitar and drums sound together, very cool use of cymbals as well.

Constructive Comments: The recording is really rough, I would redo this one and I would add another instrument, like a piano to break the song up a bit – I would also turn the drum volume up a bit. I also think the song needs to be cut down to about 3 minutes total – best wishes!

Positive Comments: I love the lead vocals, just a beautiful voice with great soul, very cool lead guitar, the blues scale is right on time and the piano runs are great. The vocals sound a lot like Tanya Tucker.

Constructive Comments: Very cool song, I guess the only thing I would do is add some sort of hook, like after the first verse: I’d like to shove these blues right down your throat and after the second verse ” These blues ain’t no Joke – best wishes!

Positive Comments: I love the classical guitar intro, very cool

Constructive Comments: Even though the guitar at first sounds good, I think it last just a little too long, I think I would finish the guitar at 90 seconds and bring in a mandolin or violin solo and then come back in with the guitar at the end, I would also try to cut the song down to 4 minutes.

Positive Comments: I like the sound of the drums and the rhythm guitar as well, very good vocals and backing vocals. Sounds a little like the Grateful Dead.

Constructive Comments: Very good song, I like the lyrics and like the hook as well. Very good arrangement as well. The only thing I did not like is the beginning and the ending of this song – the ending is too abrupt and the beginning the words come in just a little too soon, for this song I would insert a lead at the beginning 15 seconds – best wishes!

Positive Comments: This song has a really strong melody and the playing is good. Also, the form is very well conceived. The guitars are a bit to up front.

Constructive Comments: Although the balance is good I feel that there is something that doesn’t work in this demo. Apart from the level of guitars that are too loud in the mix, there is a general strange feel in the rhythm section, something is slightly out of time, and the feel is very “machine-like” distracting from the real essence of the song. And I would work more on the third dimension that feels a bit too small.

Song: The Road Instrumental

Reviewer: Nick Berry

Positive Comments: The song had a good toe-tapping feel right from the get-go. It’s always hard for me to review a song when it is just the instrumental version, but the instrumentation and production of the song were well done throughout. I enjoyed listening.

Constructive Comments: I don’t have anything constructive to add.
