Positive Comments: The male vocalist fit this style well. Reminded me of some of the older classic singers. The chord progression is good for this genre of country. I enjoyed the back and forth between the male and female sections he is remorseful and she has moved on. The hook is very nice. I like the chorus. Overall a solid beginning to a good traditional style country song.

Constructive Comments: I marked this down for commercial potential, because the market is geared towards more modern sounds. But in the right circumstance you could find a use for it commercially (if there is a need for a retro sound or an older artist making a new album). The verses could be made stronger by using words that are more unique, while retaining that story line which I really like. The female vocalist struggled a bit hitting the notes. Conclusions: Rewrite the verses but don’t lose the thought, keep the male vocalist, replace the female vocalist, use a demo studio along with their musicians. With some tweaks this could really be a fantastic duet.

Positive Comments: Tasty guitar tone and lead playing from the Larry Carlton school. The vocal is unique and compelling–it reminds me of Judy Miller. That change to minor at :47 is so sweet. The drummer is kicking out a really grooving 4/4 with the snare behind the beat–this really swings. Great overall production and mix here.

Constructive Comments: Vocal has too much reverb esp with the high EQ of the tail. The vocal should come up in the mix more. Some of the lyrics are too cliche and vague. Make this a more concrete story with images that present a real story rather than just summary of “something was wrong” etc. Other than that it rocks!
