Song: Let’s Exercise

Reviewer: David James

Positive Comments: Very entertaining. The different sections of the song are very clever and keep the listener on board. It is very dynamic. I like the vocal arrangement and the instrumentation. Despite the child-friendly nature of the song to my ear it’s quite a sophisticated tune in terms of its structure. Very nicely recorded.

Constructive Comments: It’s a really strong piece of work. The message it delivers is very relevant in today’s world in which so many youngsters shun exercise to play computer games and watch TV instead. Although niche, I would hope that there is a commercial use for this song.

Song: We Will Overcome

Reviewer: David James

Positive Comments: I like the piano intro and the male/female duet sections. Both singers have lovely voices. Great to hear a choir on a track. The song has a very strong melodic quality. I love the way the song builds. The lyrics are very strong and very moving I might say.

Constructive Comments: Initially I thought that the song was a bit too slow and that the BPM should be increased, but as the song builds that becomes less of an issue. The musicianship is very good but I found the drum to be a bit heavy in the first half of the song and for that reason I’ve marked down the arrangement and instrumentation. Sometimes seven minutes might be too long, but not here. Overall a very impressive piece.

This is just an all around excellent composition!!! Wish I’d have written it!!!

Positive Comments: This is a solid country recording that could appear on the radio. The vocal is good and the instrumentation solid if not exceptional. The lyrics are well constructed and the theme is one that lots of people can relate to.

Constructive Comments: I can’t point to any one thing that keeps this from being a ten in my book, but while it is a strong performance somehow it didn’t sweep me off my feet. “Solid” is an adjective I keep using and I think that it describes the recording pretty well.

Song: Tha Bishop – The Universal Code (Single Street Version)

Reviewer: Nigel Barrett

Positive Comments: Reminded me of PM Dawn. Cool backing track. Anything with an interesting backing track grabs more of my attention than other hip hop tracks. Didn’t like Drake until I heard Started at the Bottom – the backing and LOW bass notes on that are ‘dope’.

Constructive Comments: Not a fan of rap but I appreciate there are plenty out there who are. Only negative comment from me is the chorus part was too repetitive for me.
