You’ll Survive by Margie & Art Corey

Positive Comments: Just a plain good un. Like the vocal, lyrics and the arrangement. Fine playing all around.

Constructive Comments: This is good work. The only thing I could add to improve this recording is back vocals a third and a fifth all the way through the chorus. Where you ooooooo at the end of the last line of the chorus – go all in with multiple voices and a fiddle – the chorus should blow you socks off.

Constructive Comments: This is a good tune, I would edit down under 4:00 for any commercial use. I loved the piano and the riff, and I like your voice, however from a production point of view the piano and the vocal compete in the ear. Bringing in a guitar or quiet organ under the vocal would have the lyrics come forward. I’m a little unsure of the chorus. What I think you mean to be the chorus sounds, to me, as if it’s part of the verse and “…coming home” is the chorus because it gets the listeners attention. If that is a bridge try making it the chorus and the other a bridge.

Constructive Comments: For me this song has been done so often that unless you are better than the best version you start out in a bad way. With the great quality of your voice find some treasure out there, or a song from a songwriter here on the site and tear it up. That way you are being heard for who you are rather than being compared to others.

Positive Comments: You sounded at first like Dylan, and then maybe Seger? I really liked that you had your own pattern of phrasing. Your “talking” lyrics in conjunction with actually singing was unique and added variation to the tune. Your back ground vocals added a different color as well. The instrumentation was right for this mood. Good job.

Constructive Comments: I know this was maybe more of a speaking tune but it seemed to get a bit pitchy here and there when you sang. Not totally noticeable to all I’m sure. Instrumentation, though appropriate for the tune, I felt it could be a bit more defined, not so much in the background.
