Positive Comments: Early Beatles vibe on the intro and then The Knack on the phrasing. It’s John of course. The playing is tight as usual–John always gets drums, bass, and guitar totally right. I’m guessing this is about the whole process of being obsessed with a musical idea and trying to make it a reality. Can so relate!

Constructive Comments: You know the vocal comment. If you heard this with the right vocalist you’d be blown away and so would others.

Positive Comments: Cool almost odd meter feel on the groove. The keys make me think of Weather Report. This sounds like a town pavilion oompah band subverted and made very eerie and subversive. This has such an undetermined mood which makes it a very challenging and rewarding listen!

Constructive Comments: You have to craft an ending here. Also I don’t think you quite introduce the tune properly

Song: I Will Be Redeemed

Positive Comments: This is a POWERFUL song about racial injustice, lynching in the deep south of Georgia. Excellent way to open up the story line “There’s a tree in Georgia that never should have grown” grabs the listener’s attention right away. The gruesome story that follows is heart-breaking, but so amazingly told. I love the gospel-tinged chorus that infuses the song with hope. The bridge is compelling. Forty eyes, forty legs, topped off with my favorite rhyme: saw/law. This is folk music writing/singing/performing at its finest. I can see this in a documentary. Highest praise for this composition and performance to the songwriter.

Constructive Comments: It floored me how you could have such an upbeat tune to such a terrible story. But it works the whole thing works. I’m not complaining, only commenting. I’d like to know the story behind how you came to write this song. It seems to me like you could add another verse too it. It almost ended too quickly. If you did, I would insert it right after verse one, before the first chorus. FIVE STARS! By the way, I loved your guitar playing, too! Mrs. Kate
