Positive Comments: This reminds me of Scandinavia vocal duo The Kings of Convenience. The prechorus “I’ll follow the light” etc is a strong section. Very nice guitar work.

Constructive Comments: The song begins with solo section instead of an intro. OK you’ve got a so so voice. And that’s totally OK, so does Dylan. But you gotta work within limits to make it effective. Don’t hold out long notes when your pitch is iffy. And melodically it’s not working that well IMO. Why not make this a bit more recitative and don’t shoot for melody and sustained notes –go for more staccato phrasing. This really needs drums and/or percussion to give a rhythm impulse beyond the bass, which is not really pushing the beat that hard. The song has tons of room for improvement. I’d be remiss not to say that honestly it’s really hard to listen to now with the long, prominent flat notes. But the tweaks aren’t that hard to do.

Positive Comments: Really strong entry with a big country anthem feel. Solid production (I’m sure it’s professional) and performances. Nice warm vocal with compelling “grown woman” vibe.

Constructive Comments: This is a great tune in the making the below offered as helpful criticism.Adding a tambourine track would do SO much this tune.Start the vocals sooner. They don’t come in until :24, and the intro has worn out by then.Way too much dead space between “now you’re gonna see………best of me”The lyric move from “find yourself” to “best of me” is confusing. Is this about a universal quest for self or a relationship song where one party hasn’t appreciated the other. The hook is slow and plodding “best in me” IMO. And there’s way too much space around it. I think the tune really falls flat here. More harmony, a fiddle part? But I think the lyric hook itself needs to have more to it rather than just the short phrase hanging out there.I think you’re running too long here, and your climax out to come before 3 mins and get out by 3:30.I think you need a vocal bridge with an interesting chord change that opens the tune up. And do it after the 2nd chorus. The drums are tight but lacking personality and variety–some extra expression here would add a lot. Same with the bass. Both while still staying in the pocket but make it sound like they’re excited to be playing the tune.If you had a mic-recorded acoustic guitar with lots of air and warm sound it would be so much better than the brittle pickup sound –it’s a really solid part though.

You and Me by Mitch Siegal

Song: You and Me

Positive Comments: Very pleasant song with cute & catchy lyrics. Immediate Jack Johnson, Jason Maraz, and especially Izzy/Over the Rainbow associations. Very good vocal performance.

Constructive Comments: The immediate “over the rainbow” / Izzy association is going to dog you on this. The vocal sounds like it’s boosted/compressed maybe a bit too much–there’s a mid range intensity that’s a little hard. It should sound more mellow–maybe some distancing with reverb/delay? Because of the Izzy thing I’d argue for making this a guitar song rather than uke.

Positive Comments: I enjoyed the contract of the edge/drive, but lightness of the tune. A feel good song, that can be turned about. Always a good thing. Reminds me of 60’s retro with some Indie rock vibe. Glimpse of The Beatles, Paul Revere and the Raiders, and the Kinks. Well done. Liked the over all punch, wall of guitar feel by the way.

Constructive Comments: My suggestion would be from a producer standpoint. I think the arrangement needed to evolve more. Maybe a breakdown in the middle would have been nice, or even acappella vamp towards the end. I wanted to have some peaks and valleys. It was all good, just a bit too sustained level of intensity. From a mix standpoint, the vocals were tough to get the lyrics, could have been more out front.

Positive Comments: Good current country feel, love the harmonies, vocal reminds me of Highway 101, I like it.

Constructive Comments: Maybe bring the lead vocal up a bit?, maybe utilize some of the current “bro country” production techniques (jazz up the drum tracks, especially on the bridge). Maybe build to the chorus more & make the chorus sound bigger?
